Confirmed with Link: Marian Gaborik to Columbus for Brassard, J. Moore and Dorsett

I can't believe they actually traded gaborik for brassard and a bunch of bums, my god. It's becoming very hard to not be a torts hater and assume all this stupidity is coming from him.

Brassards aren't conducive to championship rosters. Inconsistent, paid their market value, and little in the way of leadership. He has physical talent but it never clicked. What you're left with is a guy being paid like a 2/3 C without the skillset to play in the top 6. So he plays grinder lines without grinder attributes.

Maybe playing for the worst franchise in the NHL might have been holding him back.... a little...

Great trade... Gabby looks done.

I know you have he was a 40 goal scorer but that was before a shoulder injury. He looks slower and his shot is average right now

And if he turns it on then so be it. He was dogging it here and we got good players for him

He did have pretty good coaching, and according to CBJ fans, "Didn't get it." Not a good sign.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but with Brassard's acquisition, it almost certainly spells the end of Richards via buy out this off-season or next.

++1..hate this trade..should dump torts instead

This. Take the GM and owner too.

Let's see, we give up Gabby, Dubi, Arty, a 1st, Parlett, DelIsle and get back Nash, Dorsett, Moore and a 6th.

OMG! We've traded places with the BJ's. I will die laughing when we're on the links with no first, no second ****-load of 3rd rounders and a 6th. :help::help::help:

Not sure if this was mentioned, but with Brassard's acquisition, it almost certainly spells the end of Richards via buy out this off-season or next.

I had the same thought, but in combination with whether or not Stepan is truly emerging as a #1 C.

This is not a trade that improves our playoff chances. This is a salary and torts dump. Team did not improved. Just freed up money to sig hags, McDonough, etc.

Clowe has to be taken into consideration with the other new faces

Just hope Dorsett gets in sooner rather than later

Depends. This trade very well might have allowed their forwards to all slot into their proper roles. That will make this team better, since that's been a big issue this season.

who exactly "got it" in Columbus besides Nash?
Wouldn't know. But players can look like they know what they're doing, even on bad teams, and it doesn't sound like Brassard was one of those players. I guess we'll see for ourselves soon enough.

Torts: On if he believes the Rangers are a better team after the trade deadline: “I have no idea.â€

That's odd. It's almost sounds as if Torts himself didn't make these trades, but possibly the GM.

Yeah but torts mixes more often than Betty Crocker. He changes lines like crazy.

OUT:

Gaborik, who has been miserably under performing, not creating any offense and stuck in the dog house skating with Pyatt/Newbury/Boyle/etc.

IN:

Clowe & Brassard who, combined, should at least be able to match the offense created and provided by Gaborik THIS year and by being two bodies rather than one, will force someone who is not NHL caliber out of the lineup. Clowe also can bring a bit of the Dubinsky element that's been missing and may be able to rebound to a nice complimentary scorer with the scenery change. By all accounts, he's a great teammate, which is the kind of character this team lost in guys like Prust and Dubi.

Moore, who forces Hamrlik/Gilroy/Eminger out of the lineup, provides much needed puck moving skill and speed on the backend in their place and has the potential to become a nice #3-4 D-man overall.

Dorsett who, once healthy, will provide something we've been sorely lacking and go a great distance towards replacing the Prust element we've been missing. Dorsett is a motor type of player. He can actually help energize and motor the entire team the way Prust could.

Seems like we improved, a little bit, to me.
