Confirmed with Link: Marian Gaborik to Columbus for Brassard, J. Moore and Dorsett

Loved Gabby, but the trade made the Rangers a better team. Brass is a great middle-6 center, Moore is looking like the next best thing to McD, and we still haven't even seen Dorsett play yet. No regrets about the trade at all.

And don't forget about the under-the-radar Swedish kid we'll draft with that 6th rounder who will leap into our top 5 prospects in a year. ;)

How so? Its certainly not offensively.

Seems like your best argument is "he isnt Brian Boyle"

Well what are you judging it on? His stats?

Cause blue jacket fans all said he is a VERY effective 3rd line player and his offense has been getting better.

I think i'd prefer to listen to eye witness accounts rather then hockeydb.com

It actually really hasn't set in that Gabs isn't a Ranger anymore

Agreed.

I was watching the highlights of this seasons' WSH-NYR games to get pumped for POs, and it was sort of surreal seeing him skating around. He was one of my favorite players for the past 4 years. I wish CBJ made the playoffs.

Blue Jackets have been one of the worst teams over the past 10 years. Plenty of their effective 2nd liners should have been 3rd liners and 3rd should have been 4th etc. I don't think that's a very good way to judge it.

Reminiscing on last years series with the Caps in which Gaborik got the triple overtime winner.:cry:

Nonetheless this was a great trade.

well, he bought an apartment in NYC, and he's spending time in new york

Exactly. All it means is that he's been living out of a hotel room for the past month and now that the season's over he's returned to his (current) place of residence. Whether or not he continues to maintain an apartment here, he'll likely find a more permanent solution in Columbus next year.

Rangers actually got two 1st rounders for Gabs.. Brassard and Moore

technically they did but you cant look at a trade based on that... because look at it this way Rangers traded a first round pick (Jessiman) for future considerations, and traded two first round picks (Hossa and Montoya) for 1st round pick (Sjostrom) and two depth players... cant look at trades like that..

For me this trade came in two parts. The first part gave us Nash. The second gave us the support players we gave up in the first part. One team made the playoffs by a hair. The other missed just so. Both teams got better.

Columbus is the team that has taken the bigger steps in improving overall. The Rangers initially took some steps back, but have now stabilized and improved.

So very good deal for both sides so far. It's still early.

Yes, but people are asking for first rounders not to help the team, but to make it more exciting for them to follow the draft. It's for entertainment, not for the Stanley Cup.

Of course it is preferable that we acquire young NHLers over draft picks that have as good a chance to turn into nothing as they do to turn into even marginal NHLers.

I think that was the most memorable Rangers moment for me since winning the Cup, especially since I was up till 6:30 AM and had to go to work 1 hour later. I actually skipped a night for that game...

He was a 3rd liner on a perennial doormat of the NHL. Pardon me while I deal with the tingle coming up my leg.

They were pretty spot on about how Brassard was.

Ah gotcha.

So Nash is really a 2nd liner.
Brassard is most certainly nothing more then a 3rd liner.
And Moore is a 6/7 dman.

I mean if we are going by those standards.

RIght now, on a good team, those are all they have to be. Not sure why we have to leap and make Dorsett a 3rd liner. Hes an energy player. Would love for him and Boyle to be on the 4th line.

Well Boyle will never be on the 4th line, but i agree

I think Dorsett will end up on the 3rd line because he will bring a much higher amount of engery that Torts is going to love, thus give him more ice time.

I know the example has been Prust, but if he really plays a similar style, then it will be hard not to give 3rd line minutes IMO. I just can't for the life of me see Pyatt getting 3rd line minutes over him if Dorsett is effective on the forecheck which I think he will be.

Let's see how they do in the playoffs.

Rangers wins post TDD:

Vs. Pittsburgh (6-1)
Vs. Carolina (4-1)
Vs. Toronto (3-2 SO)
Vs. New York Islanders (1-0 OT)
Vs. Florida (6-1)
Vs. Buffalo (8-4)
Vs. New Jersey (4-1)
Vs. Carolina (4-3)
Vs. New Jersey (4-0)

So one blowout win vs. the Pens without Sid, one OT win where we were heavily outplayed and win vs. the Leafs in a shootout gimmick. Only games won vs. Playoff teams.
