Value of: Marco Rossi

The Wild can't trade Rossi for an expensive winger. We have 13M in cap space and Guerin's plan is to go after a center who can help ease the load on Eriksson Ek. Can't do that if you're taking up 7M+ on a winger.

By this time next year his cap hit will look amazing relative to the deals we're about to see I'd wager

Forsberg's contract is already fine, but at 8.5M, that would leave us with 4.5M to find a replacement top six center. It's not feasible and makes no sense for the Wild to do.

It's a chore to watch Wood skate. I'm not too interested in that.

It's a chore to watch Trenin skate. It's a chore to watch Brazeau skate. It's gonna be a chore to watch Nelson or Boeser skate. I don't make the rules. Guerin doesn't care about skating. Have you seen Wood's listed height? 6'5? Yeah that's what the ask would be.

I'm not predicting Guerin's actions, I'm saying I'd have no interest.

If Ottowa would trade him, I doubt it, then yes. Why would Ottowa trade a player they just acquired?
Same reason they traded for him, to get younger and better offensively. Not that they would wanna move him, but you gotta give to get and if it's a centre BG wants, they obviously aren't getting Timmy and I'd rather see it be Cozens than Pinto, though he's not out of the question either

Peterka. Tuch is a hometown guy and part of our leadership group. Only way he moves is if he’s not interested in re-signing, which doesn’t seem likely.

What are the chances Peterka is actually traded? Seems to me like one of the pieces Buffalo should keep.

I’d guess not high. I don’t think he’s untouchable, but he is obviously one of our more productive offensive players, and he’s an RFA with team control still. There have, however, been some tenuous rumors that he’s unhappy here, and his defensive play leaves plenty to be desired.

lol I’m cool with it. Seems like Buff should be more interested in moving the 29yo rather than 23yo, but I guess the “we want people who want to be in Buffalo” thing is real. I can’t really say anything, though. We’re also trading a 23yo for funsies

Tuch is also a better, more well-rounded player than Peterka. And the Sabres have youth coming out the ass—we’ve been the youngest team in the NHL for years, and look how much good that’s done us. We need more dudes like Tuch, not less.

Edit: plus, if we’re trading for someone like Rossi, it’s youth-in, youth-out.
