I mean Gauthier was traded last season, so - yeah I don't see Guerin punting this season by trading Rossi this season.

I think the only reason why Minnesota would move Rossi at this point is if they have a clear upgrade (bigger, better skater (and Rossi isn't a bad skater at this point) than Rossi along with age. So a trade for Danault would make zero sense. Nor would trading for a winger.

It'd be like Lundell for Rossi + something.
Agreed. I don't see any team trading a better young C to MN for Rossi, unless there are injury(Zegras), salary(Cozens), or other issues.

I like Lundell a lot, and he's a better two way C, but I think that Rossi might have a higher offensive ceiling. I don't know that i would trade Rossi for him, as MN needs and offensive C more than they need another two way C.

Pens 1st and one of McGroarty/Broz?
That's a nice offer, but as detailed above, one that Guerin probably doesn't go for because on MN's situation. They can't punt on this season.

That's fair; Rossi is on track for a 65 point season, which is really nice - and 29 goals, which is one of the best outputs for a young center that Minnesota has ever had.

I'd have these players values being about even. It'd be a preference if you prefer the more 2-way player (Lundell) or the one who likely has the higher offensive ceiling (Rossi). Don't think either team adds.

If BG is actually serious about moving Rossi, this is a good offer. I just really hope it’s not a trade he makes.
I think if the Pens 1st + McGroarty OR Rossi himself were on the table, the deal would be done. No way does Guerin pass that up which is why I think it's too much from the Penguins POV. McGroarty + 2nd, sure I could see that. The Pens 1sts are very valuable commodities now. The days of them going out the door willy nilly are gone. If the 1st was on the table, I think there would be several conditions on it, like top 10 protected, that would make it less desirable unless there was some balance on the other side.

Now, if the Penguins can trade out, say, Pettersson and DOC and get a later first in the 28-32ov spot, then I could see McGroarty+1st as a decent offer.

My speculation is that the org would be looking for a taller version, and possibly sacrifice a bit of ability to get it. I think/hope they'd want to stay in the same age range though.

Would Cozens be of interest? I’m not sure how he’d fit into MN’s cap picture, but it sounds like he might represent the kind of physical/tools profile they’d want.

I was thinking Cozens, but his point drop from two years to last year to this year is a big red flag. What is going on with him?

That high-scoring year was a season where Buffalo went all-in on a scheme that generated a lot of rush chances, and he thrived with that. And really the entire offense has fallen off in the 2 years since, so it’s not just him that’s struggling.

Way.

What would Minnesota be looking for if they moved him?
A 6'2" Marco Rossi.

I think they should just do this in the off season - Limb Lengthening Surgery: Procedure, Process & Recovery

Possibly. He checks a couple boxes (tall, right-handed).

Personally, I'd rather they not trade him unless it's a pretty drastic upgrade. The kid has done anything and everything the organization has wanted him to do to get to the spot that he's currently in. Trading him seems like kind of a dick move, to be frank.

You understand how Good Rossi has become right? He's also wild 1c. In no world are wild even going to consider trading him during a contending season. It would take more than a 1=2nd and prospect who hasn't done anything on NHL level

Tuch + Krebs :sarcasm:
wild say no, Lets be honest, wild aren't trading their 1c for free agent to be winger and 4th line C who has no value

I don't even want to contemplate it at this point. He's got the attitude you want all your players to have, he's done everything, sacrificed some important personal moments to get where he is, and he's performing at the level you'd expect of his draft position. makes no sense to get rid of him unless you can't afford him. if you're planning deep into the future I can see payroll issues. If you think Yurov is going to be kaprizov level and Buium is going to be Faber or better right away, for instance.

Wasn't the Wild shopping or open to trading Rossi this past summer? Any truth to that? If so, wonder what the reasons were and how that has changed with a good season.

Care to wager where we finish in the standings? I’m willing to bet it’s a wild card position and I’ll also bet we get drubbed in the first round again. Wash rinse repeat
Nah. Team is still in the last year of the cap buyouts, so how they do will depend completely on the pieces added from now until the trade deadline.

My point was Fiala wouldn’t make a difference on getting to the second round. They might not even make the playoffs if they swapped Fiala and Faber for just this year. Fiala has one more point than Faber as we sit currently

I just have that Fiala Boldy good 3 months stuck so deep into my head I doubt it will ever be alleviated lol

McGroarty+2nd is laughable.
