What team wants parts in exchange for a young, cap friendly, top 6 C? MN already has a top 10, if not higher, prospect pool.
Those are nice parts, btw, but moving a guy who has figured it out for guys who haven't doesn't agree with the trajectory of a team like MN. Next year they will finally be able to compete on an equal basis(cap pnealties gone) with the rest of the league, and will have a soon to be UFA superstar(Kaprizov) to keep happy.
The Fiala deal indeed worked out good because Faber shocked the entire world and was an instant nhl stud. Nobody saw that coming at the time. Flip side of that is we have absolutely no secondary scoring or offensive top 6 depth. None and that is a huge problem and why this team won’t contend for anything other than maybe getting out of the first round.
Exactly. He is the only good centre, Why trade him?
Peterka is a scoring line forward and as good as Rossi.

MN has Kaprizov, Zuccarello, Boldy, JEE, Rossi in their top 6. Not the best, but not bad. Look around the league and see what they have in their top 6's. Almost no one has 6 "top 6" players.
I don't agree, and in any event, he is not a Center.
True. I wouldn't trade Rossi for him even though he might put up better numbers. Is JEE playing centre? Or is it Zaccarello?

Peterka and Byram are already established. Was thinking some of the other parts could be the plus.

I fo agree with you on not trading him but since this was a "value of" thread it would be boring with zero proposals.
JEE, when healthy. He is not, which makes Rossi even more indispensable. Zucc has never played C. They tried Boldy there... the experiment lasted two periods. Before that, they played Hartman, with some success, but he's really a 3rd liner RW/C.
Right now Freddy Gaudreau is the #2C. He is playing well, but...he's Freddy Gaudreau...

Minnesota has zero need for anymore Dman, especially expensive one. When healthy, Minnesota is stacked on D. Minnesota doesn't need a G either.

It actually might make some sense to see what Kaprizov's number is going to be first, before doing anything with Rossi.
I liked Helenius in the draft. If it comes to it, that would be my preference out of the listed options. I hope it doesn't come to it though.

If Cozens didn't have the contract he has then that might be an interesting proposal. I think he is redeemable, but at that contract it's a no go. Byram is not a need with Brodin, Middleton playing his ass off, and Buium coming as soon as this spring. Even Chisholm is playing decently, as a skilled, moderately sized LHD.
Peterka would be nice, but need a C.
MN has Wallstedt, Gus is still young, and playing great.
1st is great, but trading Kaprizov's Center for a prospect that won't be a factor for 3-4 years, if ever, will make him unhappy, and less likely to re-sign in MN. No bueno.
You could argue that Peterka and a 1st would be an overpay for Rossi, but even then, MN is not the right team to make that deal. Pieces don't fit.
Buffalo should have a good situation at C with Thompson, and Cozens. Rossi is not going to fix what ails Buf. They would be better off trading for players like Foligno and Middleton...two very tough, middle of the lineup veterans with size who know how to play defensively, and will, together with McLeod and Greenway, make BUF a much harder team to play against.

Cozens is not a center, and we knew that on our board and the coach knows that now too. Thompson is also not a typical center, to be honest, he is a finisher who is more like a wing player. So our situation with centers is very difficult. Our 2C is now Kulich, sometimes McLeod. We need a legit top 6 C.
I think the train has already left, we could have drafted Rossi and would have done it if Adams hadn't come in. Botterill wanted to take Rossi.
Rossi is a quality player and seems very driven to get the most out of his ability. As such, he’s steadily improved year over year and is putting himself in a position of someone the team is able to count on.
I think it is fair to question where his ceiling actually is and is likely why the Wild brass has slow played him essentially since he turned pro. Yes they have absolutely treated him differently that most prospects of his status in the team’s history but it has also worked. He’s made huge strides, he’s playing good hockey, and is still part of this organization. Let’s not let that get in the way of finding a way to be upset about the front office though.
At the end of the day, he seems like someone that they will use as a piece to upgrade his actual role. Likely for a name to come available over the next year+ that isn’t the usual suspects or on the radar at this time. Something like a legitimate first line center all of sudden to be moved in the Eichel like situation. I don’t see the team ready to move him for the sake of making a change.
As an aside, it will never not be amusing to see the same Wild fans that cannot take two steps without bringing up Fiala. Someday they will grow up and take the poster down over their bed.

MN has an oft injured and worn down Zucc and an Ek that is getting there. Those guys aren’t durable it seems because when the chips are down they are always hurt.

My only reasonable explanation is rossi is playing too well too soon and they wanted to sign him long term on the cheap.
And one way to keep him happy is to keep Rossi as his linemate. We've been trying to find a centerman to mesh with him....a center who had talent of his own and deserved to be on the top line. We've finally found it, which makes it crazy that BG isn't knocking down his agent's door already.
I think McTavish makes a lot of sense if Guerin won’t commit to Rossi longterm. Anaheim needs more offense and Minnesota gets a bigger C.

Well yeah, I meant more like we need a replacement for him. Not sure Yurov is that within the next few years.
