I get that a lot of Rossi's production is "because Kaprizov"...and he might not be a great fit away from that. And you're sorta paying "extra" for that, where unlike Hartman...he might not be "worth it" in other ways if he's not stapled to Kaprizov. But the only way it makes sense to me for Minnesota to move him, is if they're packaging him with other stuff to get an actual upgrade on that "de facto 1C" role somehow. And i'm really not sure "that guy" is actually on the market anywhere.

Someone like Barzal or Brock Nelson out of Long Island maybe...but i don't think that helps Minnesota much in their dead cap crunch. Malkin as an old man if he actually decides he's okay with being dealt? Zegras in Anaheim...but Rossi isn't the piece they'd want back at all, so it'd have to be a multi-stage deal?

Panarin 50% retained + Lindgren 50% retained for Rossi + Middleton + Gaudreau (or other bottom six to help with cap) + Ohgren + 1st.

Even though I’ll get laughed at about Panarin being included.

I’ve thought about it a bit in the past and Bread for 2 more playoffs at only 5.8M is pretty tremendous value, plus putting him and Kaprizov together on the PP? Perennial 90-100 point winger at a very affordable cap hit for 2 runs to a team that needs affordable contracts due to the Parise/Suter buyouts, but is having a great year?

Take Middleton/Lindgren out of the deal if you want (I see them fairly equally, just think Middleton’s physicality would be welcome for NY). Rossi + Prospect + 1st for Panarin (not as a rental) at 50% isn’t crazy… I don’t think.

I don’t thing the FO thinks he is the type of player you win with, for whatever reason. I think they just don’t like the idea of a small center man who isn’t a burner being the number one center if the future. Wasn’t a problem when they drafted him, but they seem to not be huge fans based on what we’ve heard for years and even in game usage.

I think they’d do something like Rossi for Pinto, or Rossi for Jiricek in the offseason.

Right or wrong, this is definitely the answer as to why the org has seemingly been lukewarm on him long term. Definitely think they should see if Rossi/Kap can be there Point/Kuch but who knows lol

Point me to where Russo said that HYNES does not like Rossi.
It's obvious isn't it? Who is the first guy who gets a demotion when the team plays bad? Who gets no PP1 role even Rossi would be the perfect Zucc replacement there? Who has to play with scrubs like Trenin when injuries happen? Who gets almost no ice time when there is a close game late in the third? I could go on and on .....

It's always Rossi who has to deal with the coaches dogshit. It's obvious that they din't trust him and he isn't part of their longterm plans. When there a consequences after a bad game, Rossi is the first one who has to deal with them. Others like MaJo, Zucc or even Ek can do whatever they want. No consequences there.

Ooof. Pinto would be a definite downgrade...MN has plenty of 3C's, and JEE is the perfect 2C. That's really aiming low. Jiricek.... well, we don't know what he is. He is still young, and can improve, but so far he is hardly impressing CBJ.

I mean, it's always nice to have RHD's, but MN really needs a C if Rossi is traded. Depending on Yurov, Heidt, or Bankier to fill the void is madness.

I liked Rossi so much in the draft, I think he would be a perfect 2C for Sabres.

Here's my take:

This story is to generate clicks

He's playing well, he's young, teams are not going to take him as a package for a 'true' 1C

I wouldn’t do those deals, but just speculating based of off what’s been reported and what they like. Pinto played for Hynes this summer at the WCs, and is having a down year after 27 points in 41 games. He’s big, right shot, and skilled. I’ve heard of worst players to target. But like you said, I just wouldn’t feel great about trading Rossi for him given he’s on pace to break 60 points almost exclusively at even strength.

It is not obvious. Not at all.

Who had 73% of his 5v5 time on ice attached to Kaprizov before he missed last game with injury. Oh, that’s right… Rossi. Your narrative is false.

Rossi has played 23 total 5v5 minutes with Trenin and 264 minutes without Trenin. He had one game where he was put on a line with Foligno and Trenin to start and that didn’t even last the entirety of the game. He was elevated by the 3rd period. If Hynes hates him that would make ZERO sense. False narrative (again).

What are you talking about no ice time down the stretch?? He literally just had the game tying goal and at least two shifts in the ensuing overtime. False narrative (again).

You say Johansson/Zucc can do whatever without repercussions, Zucc has tremendous chemistry with Kap. He hasn’t been a liability. Johansson, who else would you put in his spot?? Foligno? But then we would hear the bitching about how Boldy has to play with Foligno…

Point me to Ek being a liability. He is way more reliable than Rossi in *almost* all situations.

The only thing you can go on and on about are false narratives.

There is room for JEE and Rossi on my version of MN.

For sure, but the point I was refuting was that Ek “can do whatever they (he) want(s)” with “no consequences.” What exactly has Ek done to deserve that statement? He’s out there shutting down the other team’s best players.

I’m just so over this “Rossi is a victim” mentality.
