Actually Brooks reported late last month it is believed Staal is progressing nicely from the eye injury. Last Wednesday,Jim Cerny said during a chat that Staal and the Rangers expect him to ready to go in training camp. Staal said on break-up day he would be ready for camp. The doctors feel the eye pressure will be normal by the start of camp.

I'm not trying to make up rumors or anything but my brother coaches and one of his coaches went to a game, Derek Dorsett's dad so happened to sit right next to him, I guess Staals eye was brought up and he said it wasn't in good shape that he is blind in his eye. I found it weird because I asked my self why haven't they said anything if it is true, I guess we'll just wait and see..

I'm not going to try to read TOO much into this, but for what its worth I don't know if Staal would have made the Canadian preliminary roster if his eye had not improved....but who knows.

Im no expert, but from the one game Staal played with the injury, it looked like he was having trouble locating pucks near his feet. Reports around that time seemed to indicate his vision was still cloudy -- I dont know if anyone knows if it'll ever be back to 100%, but I think his invite to the Team Canada camp is a good sign. He certainly isn't blind.

Thats hardly an update. He will be invited to NYR camp, doesnt mean he will be effective if the eye isnt healed.

Hes under contract with the Rangers. What obligation did Team Canada have to invite him? They could've invited any Canadian-born hockey player in the entire world.
