I think his peak was the 2010-11 season,,he was probably a top defender that year.

But the Pronger without offense comparisons, just laughable.

People don't recognize that Pronger was a generational talent defender.

I don't remember anyone actually comparing him to Pronger, at least not recently.

I have this terrible feeling that the awful contact they gave Girardi will destroy the defense corp. Seriously, the gave a #4 $5.5 mil per season. That means that McD and Staal are each worth at least $8 mil.

I'm guessing you missed the news of the 5 year extension signed by McDonagh...at 4.7M/year?

I think you miss the point. McD may be under contract, but if that doesn't mean what he got is what he's worth. He may be getting 4.7 on average, but Girardi's contract makes it look like he should be getting at least 8 mil.

Can certainly see the first part coming true, but what the hell do we have left in the cupboard that we can use to get Staal? Unless we are sending Girardi out (leaving Stralman and Klein as your top 4 RHD) I can't see what we've got that would interest the 'Canes
