Looking back I though Weber for Subban was a bad trade for the Habs- but now that was a smart deal. Weber was an anchor and clear upgrade to Subban. Not sure about other deals but that was one Bergevin got right.
Except for one tiny little detail... Weber is under contract through 2025-26 at almost $8M.
It may not wind up mattering, it may be something they can get out of... but...
While Nashville and Montreal both have an appearance in the Final after the trade
Nashville has the far better record since the trade, is currently in 1st place in the West and has moved on from Subban WHILE getting 2 second round picks for him in the trade with New Jersey.
Not that any of those specific details necessarily relate directly to one another but uh... Nashville seems like they made the better choice on the whole to me.
