Ultimately, no one is mad that Khus got traded. I even mentioned it in the trade thread. The fact he got little back in return is a big concern and seems like a Fenton trade at worst and a a Fletcher trade at best.

More so, this just lends credence to Minnesota's prospect group being highly overrated simply because they have good names on paper

Boldy had 1 goal in 13 games his sophomore season. He is also a very streaky goal scorer and some fans have been frustrated with his lack of consistent production. Didn't he go without a goal again this year for a pretty long stretch?
You can critique the trade without getting overly hysterical and bringing up "well, should we have traded everybody?"

I don't think the trade is A+. After sleeping on it, I can maybe get to mildly annoyed, especially since we added a pick. I don't think the sky is falling because I don't think Khus is a 2nd line center in waiting. And if Boston puts him on their 2nd line and he's good, cool, because he wasn't going to get put ahead of the 3 guys we're going to have next year.

Check out these 2 goals here:

Great hands in tight around the net and patience. The second move from behind to the front of the net is so quick and he gets great elevation on the puck from in tight. The announcers were mentioning how he tried the save move at even strength.

Check out the assist here on the first goal and how soft his hands are to make that interior pass into the slot:

I will say he does look heavy footed, but it's more about quick stops and starts rather than long speed which makes me optimistic about him playing in a north/south cycle line. I am not trying to be a contrarian, but I really think there's some potential here. There's not a lot of players with those kinds of hands at that size.

He's 27 but with not a lot of wear and tear and still some projectable upside IMO with more time with NHL coaching. Let's get him on the Rossi plan.

What three guys?

Also the issue is also that Minnesota is going to have to replace Khus and we all saw how Guerin did this off-season replacing Duhaime with Trenin.

No one also expected Khus to be a top 6 guy but a solid bottom 6 guy that would replace Gaudreau.

Rossi, Eriksson Ek, Yurov.
You think Yurov is going to be a bottom 6 guy?

Also the hysterical part is the fact that everyone is pointing to Khus and thinking that's his final product. Even experts mentioned he would need at least a year to adapt to the NHL. He should have started in the AHL this year and then moved to the NHL.

What would Marat's standalone draft pick trade value have been? Would he even have fetched a 3rd? His value certainly hasn't grown in the past 5 years.

Unfortunately other teams have eyes and access to data. All point to him being one of the worst forwards in the entire league this year. He was very much available and this was his “value.” A throw in on a trade with two other marginal players.

future considerations, much like former 2nd rounder Oliver Kylington... arguably it cost the Wild a 6th to dump the contract...

that said, interesting how Carson Soucy fetched a 3rd ... have to credit to the Wild scouts and development team for that one

No. There's no way in hell he fetches a 3rd. I would say probably a 5th or below.

I should clarify, I think a 5th is his ABSOLUTE highest value you could get from him and it would take a suitor that thinks they could develop him into something he's really not.

^And I think these responses prove why there was zero reason to freak out about this

I'm waiting to see what @Spurgeon has for a value. He seems to be the one on here that was the highest on him. I honestly have no clue on his value, I'm interested to see what others on here think.

Me too. Honestly I'd see like a 4th or so. But more like trading Khus for another failed prospect.
