The Frost and Farabee trade is highway robbery compared to what’s going on today.

A lot of people are crapping of Farabee, but he had a neck surgery that takes a long time to recover, and Flames are not looking for quick wins. Could turn out to be a great trade

Man oh man, I wouldn't have a clue who I would put as the favorite in either conference. There's some hungry GM's out there today.
Even regular season standings for seedings is going to be insane in the last couple of weeks.

Dallas and Florida

Dallas has everything from an elite goalie to a stacked offense and great defense... if Seguin returns in teh playoffs he'll probably be on teh 4th line

Florida could have a second line of Marchand - Bennett - Tkachuk in the playoffs of Tkachuk returns.

Yeah, I was referring to the 1st round. Right now the Flames are slotted to play the Jets and that's very likely going to be a 'why even bother' week.

TBH, I don't think we could have made any decent moves that would move the needle for those match ups. I think the potential outcome is still the same. Favors the other team, we're dark horse unlikely odds for moving to the next round.

IMO our odds for the WC2 race are also unaffected/improve.

So even with lots of Western teams loading up in an arms race, with Calgary standing pat today, our odds don't seem better or worse than before for any previously conceived scenarios.

Eating that contract, for the rights of a 24 old undersized D in hopes he turns it around isn’t something I’d personally do.

Sucks that no 3rd party retention was needed. I understand why Conroy was not keen on doing 2 years of retention, really handcuffs you next deadline.

I dont mind the fact they didnt pick up a depth defenseman. I think the lack of right shot center is really going to bite them though. I would of spit out the 3rd for Glass worst case.

There are going to be a lot of unhappy fans of various teams come late April to mid May when they look at their team’s draft pick and prospect pools and will be asking - “was it worth it?” Unfortunately for us in a weaker draft we are looking at adding only a 3rd line forward and maybe 2nd pair defence in the future in this draft with the NJ and FLA picks. However the NJ pick should get us picking around 20th so say a Braeden Cootes and Kevin Bahl for an aging Markstrom will be a steal of a deal.
