I suppose either is possible. But in terms of culture, Buffalo has about as many playoff appearances in the past twenty-five years as there have been years where San Jose hasn’t made the playoffs. It’s just hard to imagine the Sharks continuing to lose any longer than they have to imho
Does that previous culture matter when none of them are there?

A first for Walman is lunacy.

GMs are losing their minds this year
No legitimate source has cited a 1st, the source is some hack twitter account "PuckEmpire"

I dont think the extra bandwidth is supposed to kick in tomorrow. In theory the servers are supposed to increase as our traffic increases, but theres always a significant delay until that happens. Thats why the request was made for us to have extra right off the start.
Huh?

Their success during that period does seem to coincide with Jumbo’s venture there (made the playoffs 14 of his 16 seasons in San Jose), but they’d made the playoffs 8 out of 11 prior to him coming there. The Sharks have been good for a damn minute. It’s really just been these last five years or whatever of rebuilding, and I’m pretty confident it’s going to pay off for them, with Grier steering the ship.

Their not rebuilding, they are burning it completely to the ground and that very rarely actually works. Grier has some good pieces in place, but he needs to have a support system for them. If they don't make a big signing for the blueline (or 2), Askarov and possibly Dickinson will have no support.

I think the actual “arson” is over, and the new build is well underway. There’s a good chance they’ll stink for a couple more seasons, but the pieces they do have in place are indeed crucial ones. Blue chippers at every position, it will be interesting to see what kind of impact Dickinson has when he finally suits up for them. But they have a shit ton of cap space too, on top of a handful of high picks in the coming drafts. I can see it being a lasting success for them like before when they finally do turn the corner.

There’s a bunch of teams in it, and there’s not many teams completely out of it.

Really wish Calgary was sitting on all those UFAs this year versus last. Conroy could restock 2025 and 2026 with all the guys he had.

Sharks have been bad for 6 years already.
They’re probably two years away from being two years away.

10 years to be back into a regular playoff team is what pain looks like.

Not every franchise has the luxury of being able to withstand a decade of suck without some semblance of promise that brighter days are ahead. Certainly not any of the Canadian teams.

Ill be annoyed if Rantanen signs with the Stars. Buuuuuuuuuut I am curious what they will give up for him. Colorado goes all in for Nelson, Dallas answers with Rant, Jets you are up next!

Apparently the Avs enquired about Kadri, but Kadri is committed here and the conversation between the Avs and Flames died quickly.

Sounds like a eastern team is sniffing around Ras more intently now.

Rumourings and muses you know. ;)
CP?
I can see both being dealt after the season, but not now.

But I can see the Hurricanes coveting Ras he's push Burns down to their 3rd pairing which would do him wonders IMO

Clearly it'll be a 3way....
  • Rantanen to DAL
  • Andersson and DAL 1st to CAR
  • Stankoven to CGY

Hearing similar things from multiple people.

- Avs wanted Kadri, ask went nowhere fast. I personally think Conroy isnt even approaching players with protection due to the Markstom fiasco from last deadline. Thats my opinion though.
- Eastern teams have been sniffing around Ras, offers were/are jokes. Sounds like 1 team is pressing harder but its still not close to what Conroy would remotely consider. Seems firm on wanting to talk to Ras about an extension unless the deal is stupid. Buffalo has coveted him, but thats been known for awhile.

Also mildly surprised the Stars are doing this. They wanted their kids signed long term first before going big game hunting.

I think there's some redundancy between Johnston, Stankoven and Bourque. They're all skilled RHS players in the same age range. The Stars have drafted so well that they can afford to make some really good pieces expendable. The thing I'm surprised about is that they've now paid big assets twice to add forwards while still having Lyubuskin, Ceci and Dumba as the right side of their defense.
