We already had Andersen at the time, what were they gonna do sign a back up for 11 million. If anything that money was better used for defence as I think the D was between Rielly, Polak, Gardiner, Hainsey, Marincin and Zaitsev in those days.

The worst thing the contract did was make Matthews and Marner ask for more imo.

By the time he realized Kerfoot exploded he had already drawn the defender wide and didn't have any lane left.

Marchment was such a huge mismanagement

Anyone who saw him in the minors knows he was a good, but not great player. And he wasn't 20 years old. Nobody saw this type of progression. The Leafs have also stolen players too.

Yeah I'm not worried tbh. If he wasn't getting chances or had less mustard on the shot I'd be worried. Just a bit of rust imo. We'll see.

I feel the same way now with Anderson. I think he'll turn out to be a decent bottom 6. Just not with the Leafs

Accurate assessment. He definitely has a propensity to think he’s #4 and not #3 from time to time and that’s when he gets burnt. He also like a lot of D tend to get caught puck watching and exposing the back door when he gets turned around in the zone. When he keeps it simple he’s highly effective and highway robbery at $2m

I think the greatest strength of acquiring Tavares for free was we had a elite 1-2-3 punch with Matthews-Tavares-Kadri down the middle but that was short lived lol.

Kadris sweetheart deal helped balanced the huge caphit of Tavares, maybe even potentially could have put Kadri at 2C and Tavares to LW
