The race is already all but over

Tampa needs to win out and we need to go .500 just to tie in points. That's likely not happening
Wouldn't say it's over yet but 3 points today and tomorrow and we likely have it.

is he back tomorrow?
Even if he is, I wouldn't play him. Give him another day. Give Woll tomorrow.

I watched the TB-Boston game today, man we're going to have up our intensity to beat either of these teams. They skate, hit, and have skill. I think Sandin would be mauled against either of these teams. Schenn has to start to take a regular role on the defence. Players like ZAR, Acciari, Lafferty have to be physical for the minutes they get. Starting against Carolina we have to start showing some playoff level intensity. It has to be ingrained in our play to have any success against TB or Boston.

Boys better step up and back that azz up.

No matter the final standings, TB limping in the second half has to effect their overall confidence and perhaps a sense they’re in decline.

I don't want to jynx it but Vasi has been very meh this season. I've been following Tampa for a few months since we've been locked in and their GDT is roasting him every game. Hedman also is not what he was, he seems to just throw the puck away and today against Boston's forecheck threw a pizza through the middle of his end which almost ended very badly.

I think we are really going to beat them. Not confident after that though

I watched some of the game they were hitting but not hitting to hurt

They still have Vasi

Last years playoffs he didn't play his best till game 6 overtime and game 7 nothing was getting by him .

You have them on the ropes again finish it.

Fun stat. Justin Holl has taken the most hits in the NHL this season. 40 more hits than the next player (Connor Clifton) I don’t know what to make of that stat, is it good/bad but he gets run a lot. Probably not agile enough to elude hits? Willing to pay the price to make a play? Combination of both? He may not throw bone crushing hits but he’s obviously not afraid to get hit, or just too slow to avoid them. He’s an enigma to me.

He processes things too slowly to get out of the way.

Yes, but Vasilevsky can still win a series on his own with the offensive talent on that team.

They still worry me too much to take them lightly

The Leafs need to strike early in the series, win the first 2 at home so TB has nothing to build on. If the series goes late and Vasi finds his game we're going to lose imo

It certainly feels like they’re taking a step back or having an off year this year.

I won’t be surprised at all if things click during playoff time and they become immediate contenders. But I actually like their Leafs chances this year.

Yeah, I said it.

Tampa seems gooned up, Maroon, Perry, Jeannot are nasty dirt, and they have a bunch of grit intermixed elsewhere. I think this game today was a test to see how Tampa should play Boston if they meet them in the playoffs.

I don’t mind guys like Acciari saving up his best for the playoffs because we know what he brings every day, younger guys like Lafferty/ZAR/Kampf have to start feeling it this last stretch. Jarkrok/ Kerfoot/Bunting need to start dishing more hits. They have speed to get in on the forecheck, need to throw a hit when you get in there. Schenn is definitely going to see minutes in the first series.

I think you’ll see a general uptick in grit from everyone in the playoffs. We are playing it safe now.

Step back? They’re holding off NJ and still in first in the division.
