Besides the comments in the media Keefe also talked to him one on one about God knows what despite playing great, lost two very good friends in Sandin and Engvall, and was scratched for no good reason after the TDL despite his play.

I suppose you could characterize Liljegren as soft because of that, fine. I’d say it’s a coach that’s never trusted any of his young defenseman once again screwing up their development and making things more difficult than they need to be. Why cut a player down when he’s in the middle of playing his best hockey of his young career?

Or maybe Liljegren has just hit a bump in the road in an otherwise good season? Not everything is a sky is falling or a failure on someone. He was playing well....and now he isn't. It is a pretty common thing especially with young defensemen.

JT is not even top 50 in even strength production and not even top 40 in point production and his cap hit is top 5 among all skaters.

End of the day, based on recent play Liljegren should and likely will sit when the playoffs start, but I contend that that would never have been the case had Keefe just left him alone and let him do his thing.

What did Keefe do to him?

Scratched him for two games after the TDL and had a talk with him. Who knows what that entailed. If the tone was anything like what he said in the media I could believe it frustrated Liljegren and has him gripping his stick tighter in fear of making mistakes.
