On another note, wow does CBJ's lineup looks awful. This could be a home advantage clinching game.

Gaudreau - Jenner - Marchenko
Johnson - Roslovic - Bemstrom
Robinson - Kuraly - Foudy
Luoto - Dunne - Mckown

Christiansen - Bjork
Berni - Peeke
Bayreuther - Sweezey

Greaves
Actually they get Boqvist back tonight who is their best gezuy....but even that will not save their hearts. Our second line will eat it all off tonight..... imagine Nylund, Tavvy and hitchcock's marnie together.... thats hard right thurr sire. We indiana Jonesin that ass tonight mayne. Hard.

I do not care for all the clickbait media is doing regarding the Leafs not wearing Pride Jerseys. It’d be one thing if the Leafs reneged on wearing jerseys like the Blackhawks or Blues, but the Leafs have never worn Pride Jerseys and are showing support with the decals on the helmets and the tape, plus a bunch of the players have gone to parades in the past. Just a scummy move by media outlets.

Seems like you just have to prepare yourself for embarrassment with these games against bottom feeders

Expect the worst but hope for the best

Yeah it doesn't really matter honestly. As long as they do something which they are, the jersey thing really doesn't matter. Leafs have shown they care about these initiatives. We complain about how they operate from a hockey point of view, but Leafs are a class organization off the ice.
I remember they had Black Lives Matter written on their jerseys during the bubble playoffs for practice.

And what a scam that was. All for the narrative though. Enough of this bs. Play hockey.

Gaudreau was the biggest loser of 2022 free agency. Left big money on the table in Calgary, and turned down the opportunity to play at home for a good team, for more money as well in New Jersey and signed with the shitty Jackets.

And apparently, Philly was his #1 destination but they had no cap lol.

Not sure what the hell was going through his mind but he's stuck on a team that seems to be headed nowhere and also plays in the middle of nowhere.

Why did he turn down NJ again?

Nobody knows lol. Before free agency NJ seemed like a home run destination given that he's from the state, they had a good young up and coming team with the necessary cap space and he would get to play with other high skill guys like Hughes etc. Philly and NYI were his other top destinations. Apparently he preferred Philly but it wasn't possible cause the Flyers cap situation was a joke, so he defaulted to NJ and was about to sign with them until Columbus came calling and he bailed. The Devils reportedly offered north of 10M with a significant chunk in signing bonuses too.

What appealed to him about Columbus I am not sure... it was also apparently well known that he wanted to be closer to home, and while Columbus is a lot closer to NJ than Calgary is, it's still about an 8 hr drive to his hometown or a ~2 hr flight. Makes no sense. Maybe he wanted to be the main guy and not share that spotlight with Hughes? Who knows.

At this point if I'm Keefe I'd be straight up asking Matthew's who he wants to play with moving forward. Can't be dicking around with lines at this time of the year.

So apparently they are starting Hutchinson... Chances we light his ass up behind that D vs he has the game of his career?

NVM I had bad intel

Jackets fan weighing in. While we can't know for sure, I think he wanted somewhere lowkey after being under the microscope of the Calgary media. This is a lovely, quiet city to raise a family, and it came heavily recommended to him by some close friends including Cam Atkinson who spent more of this year in Columbus than in Philadelphia. His childhood best friend's little brother is here in Eric Robinson. Sure, Columbus isn't a huge exciting megacity and the team isn't good, but it's clean and safe and the fanbase is engaged without being overbearing, and his family is a quick plane ride away but not so close they're all underfoot all the time like they might be if he were closer. Whatever led us here, even if it was him closing his eyes and pointing at a map, we're certainly thrilled he chose Columbus. We don't usually get to have nice things.
