How was marner instrumental in getting rid of babcock. Posters on here just spout shit
With no actual brain process.

You mean its mitch fault that babcock asked an 19 year old kid who the 5 worst pkayers on the team was and he included himself and 4 others and then coach babcock announced it to the room. In your reasoning that is marners fault. Lol

The whole team was fed up with babcock had nothing to do with mitch but hey dont let facts get in the way if your agenda.
Regardless, he's right...
Marner has to go. I'm of the opinion he's a locker room disruptance & yes a coach killer. Like the poster said, regardless of your double talk,an increasingly amount of people doubt he'll be back....he'll get top $ anywhere. I just DO NOT TRUST Dubas anymore....let alone handle those negotiations....or, any others.

Why do you think he’s a coach killer and disturbance? If true, why would they want to ‘kill’ Keefe?

For the same reason they 'killed' coach Babcock...they didnt like his message & tuned him out. Probably hurt their sensibilities....

I thought the thinking is that they run the team and Keefe does as they wish?
Not many similarities between Babcock and Keefe.

Maybe there's more than we know. Keefe was a tough player and might have a similar demeanor we dont know about. Besides, knowing his job may be on the line adds incentive for results...or I hope it would.

Not seeing how any of that makes Marner a coach killer or disturbance.

If anyone should be fired it's Shanahan. He played for the cup. Dubas has never even played hockey. He thrown away picks like used toilet paper. We gave up a first so we could have Murray as backup. Dubas keeps shuffling chairs but the team is no closer. 5 years later is the team better?

I think we're entering a tough spot on the schedule and it might not be pretty until the end of the month when they play San Jose. Betting they play under .500 over this period.

I don't think anyone is panicking. TOR fans were recently reminded that the make up of this team is flawed, and that they're still angry about TOR's playoff futility. There's only so many times you can fool fans into believing something good will come from this core group and management team.
All the Buds have to do is to go on a 11-2-2 run and all will be forgiven, SC fever will be running rampant, Dubas will go back to being boy-genius, and only the most negative of nellies will be drifting about mumbling about losing.

Hopefully they can get that run started this weekend, I'm taking the B's in OT and a high scoring regulation win over the Canes

I don’t care who the GM or the players on the team are, I just want them to win. Why come back with pretty much the exact same team, except for a couple fourth liners and goalie swapping, after five straight years of failing made no sense to me. Changes needed to be made this last off season and Dubas did not do it for some reason so maybe he’s the needed change. Can’t be emotionally attached to players if you’re a GM, your job is to win
This is so true.

We are too soft for forgiveness. This team needs to subtract and add. This team is heading for a 9-11 and I'm not talking 9 wins, 11 losses, I'm talking help or else we are the same soft team THINKING we can scrape through tough battles and OUTSCORE our problems.

Our toughest guy in our top 6 is who?...Bunting? No wonder teams want to play our softness.

Has any team had this amount of talent up front? Genuine question.

This may have only been tried once because it hasn't been available to anyone else.
Many teams

the Montreal Canadians from 74 through 79

Marios Penguins mid 90s version

Oilers mid 80's and maybe the present day Oilers

81/82 NY Islanders

early to mid 50's Red Wings

mid to late 50's Canadians

40 - 43 Leafs

You honestly think they are going to just flip a switch and go beast mode like last season? Over there next month I have them at .500 at best. They have a more difficult schedule then October.
So basically a switch gets turned and the leafs play at a winning rate not seen since the tank year yet nobody should expect that to change just because you project them to go 500 next month?
Put the weed away. It is scrambling your logic.

So you are all good with the way our team is structured and feel this team can just come up with an 11-2-2 streak.

the only streak you will see is a brown streak in the back of our players shorts after the puck goes into a corner or a puck battle occurs in the corner.

As far as I'm concered this team is built for Pond Hockey that has no boards. We'd be the best and maybe then and only then other teams may fear our play.

What I'm saying is many in here are expecting the same results as last season after their slow start and become the 115 pt team again. I'm saying that's not likely to happen. Yes they will win some games due to their top talent but the depth and defense is not as good.

I'm not expecting anything.

Could be worse.
Could be better.
Could be the same.

Today, I expect anything from a 1-0 Leafs win to a 8-1 Bruins domination.
I expect Samsonov to play over his head, or leaks goals left right and center.

This current team doesn't impress me, although I thought they had a chance last year, and that it wasn't another mirage.

It is very possible this is what they are.

Yes because you said I said it and as long as you said I said it

I guess it just must be true

No one is expecting that

All that's being said is IF it happens, the people who are on a 100 watt Marshall 4X12 whine about what a bunch of stumblebums, losers and dairy queen softies they are would change their tune faster than naming all of Milli Vanillis hit songs.

Leafs need a minimum of 3 points in next 3 games to keep the stink off.

If they go through these next 3 games and come out with 2 points, it’s bad. If they happen to get 3, I think they can buy some time given how soon the Carolina game is and the tough schedule. 3 points is the floor on this 3 game stretch.

If they get 0 or 1, watch out!
