Maple Leafs hire Craig Berube as head coach, Lane Lambert as associate coach and Marc Savard as assistant coach

Should have gone with Gallant or even Guy Boucher IMO. They need an immediate 180° in chemistry and execution for quick results in the next season or two more than they need a stable 'head coach' 5 years from now.

Babcock 2.0
Yep. They went from tough guy to teddy bear and back to tough guy again

Berube v Pampered Leafs is going to be one hell of a culture war. I'm betting that Pampered Leafs win, but it is 4 v 1, and Berube is almost 60.
Ah yes. The Babcock core is pampered Leafs. You are as clueless as TML management

I dislike the Leafs as much as any of you do but Craig Berube is gonna coach the Leafs to the cup. Its the last piece Leafs needed. Leafs have grit, stars, great keeper and now they added a fantastic coach. Sucks to admit it but its the hard truth.
Great keeper? Where? And who is their lock down D man?

He was in my tier two of coaches I wanted for the Sabres. Solid hire for the Leafs, but I think their issues are much deeper than coaching even though I do think Keefe was a problem.

Boucher???

You mean the guy who was responsible for their stellar power play this season? Yeah, brilliant idea.
Ya the PP sucked in the playoffs, but during season good for seventh, and last year good for second, but agree PP in playoffs was bad.

It happens throughout the season for some teams it is hope and heartbreak others it is dismal for one team jubilation.

Admittedly the last oh, 8 or so years have dulled my enjoyment of the regular season.

We'll see if Berube and a roster overhaul can change that. :)

Where is the clown that argued with me for 2 days that Berube isn't coming to Toronto?

Come and eat your crow.

Leafs need roster changes more than they need a new coach. If they run out the same team I doubt the results will be any different

  • Dick Irvin ('32 Leafs, '44, '46, '53 Canadiens)
  • Tommy Gorman ('34 Hawks, '35 Maroons)
  • Scotty Bowman ('73 Canadiens, '76-'79 Canadiens, '92 Penguins, '97-'98 Wings, '02 Wings)
Here are the coaches who have won with multiple teams. Suprised its only three guys, but more prove that the Stanley Cup is really hard to win, especially multiple times.

However, if a coach wins the Cup they're less likely to get fired and move to another team, and if a Cup-winning coach does move to another team that might mean they aren't great and got fired.

Ultimately, it's on the players and team management. An ingrained culture of dysfunction leads to decades of failure. As Lord Byron wrote...
