First off as mentioned before, a 1st in 2021 is not the same as a first in 2019. A rebuilding team, I'll use Vancouver because I know them best, is moving a top 4 Dman as part of a rebuild, they are not interested in a draft pick in 2021 that will not be an NHL regular until 2023-2024. By 2024, a player like Horvat has already peaked and that window to win isn't as big a it would be if that player was a 2019 or 2020 pick. I understand why the Leafs don't want to trade firsts in back-to-back years, but you need to consider what the value is to the team receiving it. Bracco is another polarizing piece. I watched him in junior and have watched a handful of his AHL games, as well as read as many scouting reports as I can find dating back to 2012. He is a talented player, but he is not a pure goal scorer, so I am concerned that he will have a difficult time in putting pucks in the net at the NHL level. He is a very shifty skater, great on his edges but he is definitely not an elite skater. I see him falling between Cory Conacher and Tyler Johnson - so it would depend on the organization making the trade whether they feel he translate well to their NHL team.
