Interesting results. Andersen, Hutton, Simmonds, Thornton, and Nash with way less votes than I thought they would get.

Bogosian and Spezza aren't surprising.

Galechnyuk has a pretty even split. I voted for him to return. At the right price though. Although he faded toward the end of the season, it's still not easy to find players who can fit in the top-6 at such a low price. He can always drop to the third line with 2 better defensive players around him.

What? Thornton has more votes than I thought considering someone voted for the guy.

Hyman (if we can afford him), Spezza, Bogo, Dermott. Though if Seattle don’t take Dermott, I’d probably trade him - Sandin isn’t far behind, and will likely pass him next season. But I certainly wouldn’t just let Dermott walk for nothing, he’s a quality player with legit trade value.

I’d consider Simmonds and Galchenyuk, but ultimately I think we can find better players/fits in free agency. Foligno seems incredibly unlikely to return, and not sure I’d want to sign him anyways - he was a great player in his prime, but has declined a lot already, and that’ll likely continue next year, he’s at the tail end of his career.

No interest in anyone else, unless it’s for the Marlies.

Of course people are going to be leaving --- and no one will be coming. The only players that will sign here are people already toasted and cast away by nearly all NHL teams (Spezza, Thornton, Galchenyuk). Why would a player sign in Canada to not play in front of fans and remain locked down for indefinite amounts of time, repeatedly? What man with a family would subject their children to social isolation and skyrocketing suicide rates in the age group? Player has a wife? Yeah, sure, she'll let them sign here so she can sit at home wearing two masks under a renewed stay-at-home order.

The only way hockey will be returning to Canada as it was once known is if you as a citizen ensure the immediate removal of the ruling federal liberals.


If we're lucky we will retain Hyman-- because we'll be the only club silly enough to offer 6 million.

Freddy is long gone either way .. only reason he was even here this pasty season was Matty .. they are good friends .. MM should go either way as 4 forwards at 50% of CAP never works for a SC team .. to me I would go 8 years at 4.5M for Zach .. he will be done after 3-5 years with his playing style but then just use a buyout on him

Hyman I want back but not likely on the term/cap hit he's looking for. Spezza, Bogo and Galchenyuk. Foligno, not really, and he's going back to Columbus. The rest are all fairly easily replaceable.

He was sought after by dumb GMs like Nonis.

He could barely skate and only ever produced once (when he played with Kovalchuk).

I remember someone did a game by game video isolation of him, turns out he completed something like 3 or 4 passes which were clearly deliberate and led to a goal in his entire Toronto career. The guy was genuinely one of the lowest IQ players I've ever seen.

I’d be perfectly happy having Riley Nash back, healthy, for the 4th line.

Low event guy could be a perfect mentor/insulator for NickRob (if he’s brought along slowly) and Joey Anderson. Could be a strong energy line.

Cap situation hasn't changed and I would bet that Galchenyuk is more confident in getting a better season under him rather than making and extra 400K with a random team

Might be offered term along with a raise by others, hard to pass that up imo.
