Qualify all RFA's - could see Petan not get one just to give him a chance to sign somewhere for a better opportunity.

Early signs are that the Leafs may get priced out on Hyman, so I currently expect him to walk.

Extend Galchenyuk, Spezza, and Bogosian (if he takes a slight cut, don't see him playing every day). See what a 1-year deal for Foligno looks like.

For the Marlies UFA's, I'd like to bring back Kossila if possible. Was the Marlies' leading scorer and is a good callup option if need be.

Foligno already said he’s going back to CBJ

Hyman...if healthy at around $3 million AAV.
Foligno.... if healthy and cheap.
Spezza.
Bogo.

Spezza, Hyman, Bogosian. Those are the only ones I’d bring back. I think Andersen is a top starting goalie... but that bridge has burned.
Yeah, those are the only three i care to see next season.

They better do whatever it takes to sign Hyman. You'll never win a cup without that kind of player

No, they were all better than Hyman heading into UFA.

He's going to command a similar ugly contract to the above though.
We can't jump to the conclusion that because those contracts didn't work out that the same will happen with Hyman

Hyman just turned 29 this month. What was his salary this year, $2.5m?

I have no idea what he's asking in terms of dollars and length of contract

We literally have a ton of examples of available to us and you think Hyman is going to be the exception?

By all accounts he wants 5-6M with 5-7 year term.

Oh we can add Bolland to the above list :)

Oh wait Frans Nielsen!

Probably just Spezza.

the love affair with Hyman is strong, but when we look at the facts here -- ie 5 goals in 32 playoff games -- it becomes an easier decision to not pay him 5-6 million on term.

Marner also has 5 goals in 32 playoff games and makes $10.96 mil on term. Mitch does have 12 more assists over 5 playoff years than Hyman.

Hyman even at 1/2 the cap price tag for identical playoff goal production to Marner probably wouldn't fit Leafs cap structure.

Hyman I want back but not likely on the term/cap hit he's looking for. Spezza, Bogo and Galchenyuk. Foligno, not really, and he's going back to Columbus. The rest are all fairly easily replaceable.

I said yes to Hyman because I don't know what he's asking for. If he really turned down $5 from Dubas. Just another reason to fire Dubas, as if we needed another.

Rumour leafs offered 5M and were declined .. Oilers rumoured at 5.5M for 7 years .. I would bet he is as good as gone due to our CAP issues .. but if we do sign him then pretty much tells you that Rielly is traded for a younger player and a pick this summer

I know what you’re trying to say, but Clarkson was not better than Hyman lmao that’s just a horrible take

Spezza, Dermott and maybe Gally

That’s it. Don’t care too much, only one I want back 100% is Spezza.

I love Hyman, but he’s going to get overpaid and I’m all for him getting his one big contract. It just can’t come from the Leafs.

Jason Spezza turns 38 in 2 days so no thanks, despite his solid performance this year. He is already on borrowed time and its going to catch up with him even more now.I'd give him Manny Maholtra's job behind the bench and let him coach the Leafs PP next season upon his retirement.

I'd pick from that list only Hyman, as the Leafs need him and more players like him to surround and insulate the core 4.

I think for the right price I would bring back Bogosian as a 3rd pairing, but there are already rumblings on Leafs Lunch rumours that he wants a bigger role in the future and that might not fit $$ or role in Toronto.

I think its going to be Dermott or Kerfoot going to the Kraken so I suppose if Travis is still a Leaf I'd bring him back as a 3rd pairing depth piece next season as he is serviceable in that role and will have to hold off Sandin for playing time however.

Foligno has already stated he plans on returning to CBJ next season, and will be taking our 1st round pick in 2021 with him.

Alex Galchenyuk only shows flashes early on wherever he ends up, and then falls back into that same pitfall and soon becomes expendable in time.

I'm hoping the era of waterbugs like Petan and Malgin are ending in Toronto and we see these players have no value even as depth pieces come playoff time.

Spezza - if he's content with league minimum.

The rest? Galchenyuk if he'll take league minimum. Maybe Hyman and Bogosian if they're willing to forgo a raise (Hyman would be stupid to do so, obviously), and Dermott for expansion purposes, although I don't know why Seattle would take him over Kerfoot. Otherwise, see you in UFA.
