was pretty disheartened early on in the game but the Kings showed some resilience and battled back. really exciting to see Quick make some huge saves at clutch times, something that has been entirely absent from the Kings goaltending so far this season. obviously the Kings still have a big problem with speedy teams. all in all it was probably the most exciting game Ive watched this season. GKG!

As an ardent defender of what McNabb usually brings, I wouldn't even call him hot trash lately, because that's an insult to both temperature and garbage.

Also re: Iginla, he was actually better than I thought last night, though I had low expectations. He was only mostly meh. Had a couple of real big hits and near misses with his linemates, all three of them nearly connected several times on plays I haven't seen Kings try in a long while. Theoretically he's a great compliment to Kopitar and Gaborik as a line, but I don't think there's enough in the tank for him to recreate the kind of heroics necessary to shock the Kings out of this nightmare ride.

Iggy had some shifty board work I haven't seen many Kings pull off before. I expected to see him on the PP more.

After watching the game last night, I'm happy with Iginla joining the team. I saw him making little plays that I haven't seen too often from the other players this season like trying to break up passes, swipe at the puck, or take the body if he was within range/vicinity of the puck. He definitely battles and you can see more effort from him than the other players. Although, as the game progressed, you almost saw the other guys try to put more effort into their play as Iginla kept doing. You can definitely tell Iginla wants to win the cup, hopefully his drive and effort ignites the rest of the team. One more thing - I'm tired of seeing so much of the dump and chase/line change (Toffoli), and the other team getting it right back to set something up. Can't do that with a fast skating team cuz they'll catch you when you're sleeping.

If you saw Iginla making little plays that you didn't see too often from the other players season then you haven't been watching.Iginla was lost out there.Partly is he is new.I saw better effort by King then Iginla.Iginla isn't a savior, he is a depth move.McNabb was really awful.

He made a few great escape moves on the boards that i've NEVER seen anyone on this team make, and I saw some dangerous attempts between him, Kopi, and Gabby that were inches from connecting. He's not a savior, and he obviously needs to get in a rhythm, but there were some really positive signs, and flashes of the superstar he was. Plus, he absolutely crushed at least 3 Leafs, which was nice to see from a team we've called soft lately.

Not saying he had an excellent game or anything but considering we allegedly got a corpse he was better than expected (like Vinny).

Pretty sure if Gravel plays too many games, he can lose his exempt status(70 NHL games last two seasons combined).

McNabb actually has to play a few more in Gravel's place.

This is what I've been wondering. It's the only sensible reason as to why McNabb would be in the lineup over Gravel.

Player Exposure Requirements for a Defenseman:
i) One defenseman who is a) under contract in 2017-18 and b) played in 40 or more NHL games the prior season OR played in 70 or more NHL games in the prior two seasons.

The way I'm reading this, Gravel can't be exposed anyways because he's not under contract for 2017-18.

.

Don't think games played comes into factor with Gravel. He signed an AHL contract his first year. Hence he is only in his 2nd year NHL contract.

Same reason Panarin (CHI) is exempt, despite playing well over 70 games.

Mcnabb is already over 70 NHL games the last two seasons, so he's already eligible for the expansion draft and fulfills our requirement for d-men.

Basically, the reason Mcnabb is in over Gravel boils down to Sutter.

Again, the theory is its not to get McNabb more games played, but rather Gravel fewer. You leave both exposed and eligible, who do you think is getting picked?

I think its all probably a moot point anyway, we have Bishop. I can't see Vegas not interested in him.

McNabb is actually not on the ice for very many goals against, kinda strange.

Has some ridiculous numbers over the past three seasons, a GA average of something like 1.6 GA.

Crazy.

Gravel is exempt, period -- number of games he's played is irrelevant.

Yea. Here is the list that I keep seeing of players who don't need protection:

Watson
Kempe
Luff
Brodzinski
Amadio
Lowry
Bjorkstrand
Moverare
Sharipzyanov
Ladue
Gravel
Leslie
MacDermid

Forbort will be protected. He better be.

If the Kings protect 4D, I don't think it matters which ones are protected because Lewis will be taken. He'll probably put up 25 points or so in the Kings ridiculously low scoring system. $2M/year for what he's bringing is quite good. Toss in a couple cups, his experience, and his defensive abilities and it's a really good chance he's taken.

We like Forbort, but I doubt a GM takes a rookie that took forever to break in who is putting up so-so numbers with Doughty. He started strong, but for a while those two have been getting pinned in the zone a lot. His last point was against SJ on 1/18. Scoring isn't necessarily his job, but zero in his last 19 when playing with the Norris holder isn't impressive. I think he would be a lot safer to expose than we think, there are going to be better options out there.

I would be surprised if the Kings didn't go 7-3 anyways as things stand.

If the Kings let Vegas take Forbert, DL will be the laughingstock of the league.
