Happy we won, but the more I see this team's play the more it is settling in how far away we are from being contenders again. No speed, skill or determination on this team. Toronto and Edmonton got lucky with Matthews and McDavid. Kopitar is no where near their league. I hope we start a rebuild in a year where there is another generational talent like those two. Just amazing.

Jon Rosen just said the Kings are at 200 man games lost to injury this season with Nolan and Greene's absence tonight...... Washington is at 21.

Was at the game tonight. Not sure what it looked like on tv, but we looked horrible for two periods. The early goal in the third woke us up and seemed to deflate Toronto. Was a fun comeback for sure, but we need that consistency of our third period play (and a lucky bounce every now and again would be nice).

Also, looks like we have a lucky column:

Back from the game. I must say it was nice to stick it to the obnoxious Laffs fans at Staples.

That is going to be one insufferable fan base if they keep improving :p:

I'd be curious what the 'real' number is since we have a tendency to not IR guys as well.

Minny has been crazy lucky as well. Though don't talk about luck/PDO to either team, they both think they're sustainable ;)

6 out of 8 points in the last 4 games. Hope this is indicative of the rest of the season. Gotta get some breathing room here, especially with the weak schedule that SL has.

Kind of amazing that the Kings are still in contention for a playoff spot. Injury is a primary determinant of how well your season goes.

Steve Dangle also talks about the Kings giving hacks and whacks and Martin can't go around fighting the whole Kings roster. I'm looking forward to watching Dangle's recap. He's pretty entertaining.

I missed most of the first 2/3 of the game. Say, how was the reffing?

i WILL give the Leafs props for not diving and crying to the refs for help. Im ean Matthews is a tank, but Nylander was taking a beating all night without a word. Lord knows if that were Couture we'd be in the box all night.

Seems like the Oilers and Ducks have lost just as many man-games to injuries, but it's probably more from role players rather than their top players.

The Kings also did a damn good job containing Matthews and not giving him much room. The lone exception being McNabb, who continuously made poor decisions on the ice but somehow avoided being on the ice for a goal against.

It's been a bad year for injuries, but Greene is padding those stats. I wouldn't want him playing even if he was healthy

Every team has those guys though. You might be impressed by the DUcks' man games until you realize lots of it is Stoner (and Despres but he's at least mediocre), guys that aren't really 'on the roster'

Ours were almost all impact players

I am way too lazy to do this but, it would be interesting to take the games lost stat and turn it into a time lost stat. Take the average minutes the missing guys play and see the impact of them missing. Quick would get almost 50 minutes, Drew would get 20, Greene would get 6.

The tweet I posted above has average playing time, cap hit, etc.

Obviously it's all skewed one way or another too. But that site also breaks it down by position and so on.

My big issue is that it's not just raw man games, it's WHO we've lost, and the amount of times guys have been hurt but not IR'ed either, i.e. injury reporting is sketchy (like LaDue missing games, for example).

McNab needs to sit the rest of the year. Gravel is a far better option at the 3rd pair...

Agreed, far too many mistakes at this point. He's constantly getting exposed and the team is paying for it. Gravel is just about equal to McNabb in ability, with a higher ceiling. Maybe they're trying to make Gravel hungrier by having him sit a few games, that way when he does get to play, he won't take it for granted. I must say Forbort looks impressive as well, had a real strong game last night.
