I ... don't disagree with him?

With certain services, when you pay for them part of that is the expectation that they will clean up your mess (within reason).

If I go to a nice restaurant, I'm not expecting them to ask me to hop in the kitchen and scrub my dishes. I'm not washing the sheets at a hotel. And I'd fully expect that any small food mess left by my kids would be cleaned up by the airline after paying $thousands for flights.
I think both sides look horrible in the situation.

Bass's wife for her entitled attitude thinking someone should just come pick up after the mess her kid(s) just made. I'd be sheepish seeing that and not doing anything.

However, she is pregnant, so the flight attendant could have come over and asked if she'd like some help instead of telling her to pick up herself. At which time Bass's wife could have asked nicely if there was a broom and pan to bring over and if they could clean it for her, apologizing for the mess.

Unless Bass's wife did not approach the situation with the proper tact and basically expected the flight attendant to clean up her own mess. At which point I would understand the flight attendant's defiance. They are there to assist and serve us. But they're also not there as our own personal maids.

Bass deserves all the blowback he is getting.

This is a tough one. If you spill popcorn at a movie theatre, are you required to pick it up? They usually clean between movies, as they do with flights.

Personally I would try to clean the mess as best I could, but I’m guessing a lot of people don’t feel that way

Moral of the story, don’t whine about stuff on social media if you are a rich athlete.

People keep referring to them 'expecting the stewardesses to pick up after them'.

Again, my understanding (and Bass' as well based on his posts) is that at every flight turnaround a cleaning crew hops on the plane for a half hour and runs a vacuum through it, wipes down the bathroom, etc.

It therefore seems incredibly pedantic to force a stressed pregnant woman trying to travel with two small children to pick up individual popcorn bits that will be vacuumed up a few minutes later anyway.

Like, I've travelled with a small child and two adults and it's freaking hard. I can't even imagine how much it sucks to be on a plane with 2 little kids by yourself.

If it's popcorn in the aisle though or going on other people's seats, then it's creating an issue for other people. No one forces parents to travel with young kids, any inconvenience is their own doing.

We don't know the details, but safe to say it wasn't one or two kernels under their own seats. You can't have popcorn on the floor in the aisle (the emergency exit route)

Honestly I don't think the shitty thing is expecting the flight attendant to clean it up...if you got a problem go to customer service after like a normal person would. Don't use your platform to try and get someone fired because they wouldn't clean up your kids popcorn. Everyone kind of sucks here lol.

Allowing 5+ runs a game right now. I don't like the company we're in...

This is understandable. And GoonieFace's comparison above to spilling popcorn in a movie theatre is an apt one.

But, I don't know, maybe it's just the way I am, but I try and minimize the amount of waste I create on a plane, and do my best to help the flight attendants to minimize their work by having everything ready to hand over to them when they come around. I never think, "Well, someone is going to come in and clean this up anyways in a short while."

I wouldn't expect that mentality if someone was coming over to my house.

Ernie Clement off to a hot start in Buffalo. Honestly, maybe he'd be a better bench piece than Lukes. He's kinda like Espinal and he's shown in an SSS at the major league level that he could defend 3B well. Gives them another IF/LF piece for late inning defensive situations and pinch running. Also gives you a player with premium bat to ball skills.

Big loss for the Rays but some kid will come up from AAA and probably win the Cy Young.

I know 2009 feels like it was ages ago, but someone should tell Yankee twitter that it really wasn't.

Hell, if we want to be extra pedantic, OG Yankee Stadium was closed for two years in the 70s to undergo such a massive renovation/facelift that they essentially tore it down to nothing but the outer facade and rebuilt the interior from scratch, so there's been 3 distinct versions of Yankee Stadium over the last 100 years and amongst the 2-3 of them they've only operated for 98 years.

Jays are dead last for pulling the ball. I get trying to go the other way at times but wouldnt it be better to pull the ball seeing as that’s where the power is.

Not a lot of hot starts for our top prospects, but you can see a lot of it really just has to do with lack of power. In Orelvis' case, also has to do with him being an extreme flyball hitter and a lot of those balls are staying in the park. Once the warm weather comes those balls will take off.

Top 10 (FG):

Tieds - Elite as per usual
Barger - 88 wRC+, not a lot of power, high K%
Barriera - out, in extended ST
Leo Jimenez - 95 wRC+, lack of power
Kasevich - 72 wRC+, lack of power
Robberse - Racking up Ks but lack of control and home runs have hurt him
Macko - 1st start Thursday
Zulueta - rough 2nd start, elite K/BB
Otto Lopez - 55 wRC+, lack of power and babip issues
Orelvis Martinez - -7 wRC+, but this comes with a bump in BB, slash in K rate, and a .042 babip and .091 iso

Second start for Tiedemann. In his first, he faced 11 batters; 2 of them got hits and he struck out the rest.

For the prospect gurus here, with how hard Tiedemann is shredding AA, what are the odds the rocket strapped to him carries him to a late season showcase/callup to the big club?

I feel like if Barger got off to a hot start in the same way as he finished 2022, he might be up with the big team by now given Biggio's numbers. Like if Barger had a 130 wrc+ in AAA he could be up right now.

I think he'll be up this year, but there is also enough healthy competition in the org that I could see them keeping him down and having him start from opening day on the roster next year. Fry, Eisert, Burnette, Mellen, Robbins, and even Mason Fluharty are lefty options in the upper minors that could push for playing time on the Jays. This also doesn't include Ryu who could enter the rotation or bullpen late in the season. If for whatever reason the rotation crumbles or there are significant injuries, then White/Thompson/Zulu/Francis likely get first dibs but Tiedemann IMO would claim one of those spots post AS break.

I think it will normalize and we will climb up those standings. I think there will be a 17 game stretch where the Yanks or Rays give up 5 runs a game sometime during the season too. It’s just that ours came in the first 17 games of the entire season.
April is also arguably the toughest month of the entire season for us. When you put together extended road trips along with series against St Louis,Tampa,Houston and Yankees. If we get out of this month with a .600 winning percentage even if our starting pitching has had rough stretches that is a great month.

Toman isn't top 10 on fangraphs? That surprises me. His K rate has been way too high but he's produced partially on the back of an inflated BABIP. 12% walk rate, 121 wRC+. Beltre was on a tear before getting hurt but again mostly BABIP luck at a .667 clip. Pinto has been walking a ton, but a 33 K% as well. Good numbers inflated by a .500 BABIP. Britton's striking out way too much, and De Castro's not walking enough but they're both close enough to average with low BABIP's

3 guys that I'm liking that aren't just small sample BABIP induced are Palmegiani 151 wRC+ with a 22 BB% and .381 BABIP. Doughty's been fine at 110 wRC+ and a normal BABIP, and Robertis somehow has a 92 wRC+ with a .176 BABIP. Walked in 8 of his 32 plate apperances.

Shoutout to Phil Clarke who somehow must be making the weakest contact of all time to have a 21% walk rate, 4% K rate and just a 41 wRC+ off the back of .063 BABIP.
