Football has changed a lot from when he won stuff to where it is now. Nobody parking the bus ain't winning things anymore. It's not a surprise he's been awful since football has gotten more aggressive/forward-based. Gilardino sacked, a senseless move by yet another American owner who knows nothing about football.

They devastated a team by selling the best players and not buying anyone, 4 points in the last 2 games and out of the relegation fight at least for the moment. He was working a miracle.

To add insult to injury, they replace him with a rather poor and inexperienced coach.
