Managerial Thread - 24/25 Season - Lolst Ham United

There’s always a sucker they just didn’t put him on the market. There’s no shortage of idiots with cash in the EPL.
There wee reports that United would prefer to sell to outside the EPL and that Rashford would also approve one. But, there was never anything to warrant major interest to either sell or for Rashford to push for one.

All the Tier 1 sources reported it. The Athletic etc.
I bet they did. I don’t believe it

These were typical ETH signings. There’s nothing that isn’t ETH about them

That's your problem then. You choose to not believe reports because they don't fit you view of things/agenda.

It's not like there was any reported interest from inside the EPL either. His wages are a major deterrent due to PSR. The problem wasn't with the sporting leadership.

I don’t think I’m the one with the agenda here. My point is those signings are textbook ETH agenda signings. Certainly you can see that. It reminds me of Rodgers last summer where he got Benteke, and the committee signed Firmino. ETH got de Ligt, the committee got Yoro. Which is fine, but let’s not pretend otherwise.

I agree with this though. No one is eating those wages

Honestly, at his wages, probably not
Wages and the off field stuff.

As for whether they were ETH guys or not, if they suck they suck. Jury is out, but two of the three look pretty mediocre so far. And like usual, ETH plays other players over people bought.

I would also suggest that if you tried to replace a manager, probably got turned down by at least two if not more, then had to come back to your original manager, and give a pricey extension, the original manager likely had more than a little say in getting a few players he wanted.

It was a giant clown show

You can’t give into ETH there. You just can’t.

I mean, I also wouldn’t have sanctioned them buying any more Dutch/Ajax guys for a lame duck manager. So, to me at least, it wasn’t so much about offloading 30, it would have been about keeping those guys and not buying more ETH favorites. But what do I know. I just wouldn’t have given ETH more spending money
I don't disagree with this, but if the claim is "they shouldn't have sold McTom and instead sold other players, then it seems valid to ask who they actually should have sold instead.

Sure, but I also think that’s the wrong question

I mean, maybe some of the other guys who have been putrid? Cut bait on failures.

McTominay didn’t raise much of anything and would have taken a bullet for that club. He gives a shit on a roster of players who can’t always say that. Moving him on was stupid.

The point was, it's easy to say "should have sold other players" while choosing to ignore an almost complete lack of interest in those players, while also not maning any players. Unless the player's value has been amortized, selling at well below transfer value is detrimental for the PSR/FFP. United are already having to dance around with those.

just speculating, but it wouldn't shock me at all if United priced themselves out of a Rashford sale. I can't imagine them taking less than 50m for him (given what we know he's capable of), and I can't imagine anyone paying 50m for him.

Rashford is also on pretty crazy wages and had 4 years left on his deal in the summer. I doubt he’d have been willing to take a significant wage cut just for kicks which would also dramatically reduce who’s willing to bid for him and how much they’re willing to pay.

The fun part is that Arsenal broke its scoring record two years in a row and Chelsea under Mourinho never came close to 88 goals, let alone 91.

Hoffenheim coach Matarazzo is done after getting just 9 points out of 10 games and sitting in 15th. Last year they finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League. Word is they're after Christian Ilzer of Sturm Graz, who is in the Champions League this year
