Is he a lazy AF and acts out when things don't go his way? By all accounts he walks the talk in all aspects of his career.

Winning probably helps teammates get passed his "quirks."

Except for Tony Gallagher. Skeletor was always the management mouthpiece during this era.

@EpochLink get ready! The forum is going to call for Gillis to be GM again...

He just bought a hockey team in Switzerland so I think he might have his hands full.

I'm starting to sour on this management group. They way they do business is kinda toxic.

It's almost Trumpian how Allvin ramped up the Pettersson vs Miller thing when that's just a sideshow to their absolute failure to construct an NHL level defensive group.

You almost wonder if they've been doing this behind the scenes for a while. It directly undercuts how Tocchet and the players have been trying to tamp this down. Meanwhile Tocchet is on the last year of his deal and Allvin certainly didn't give him a vote of confidence either.

Looks like it's going to be a bumpy road ahead. Maybe it's time for the Sedins to step into the president role and promote Castonguay to GM.
I'm not sure if Castonguay is the answer given that she is the subject of a human rights lawsuit filed by a disgruntled ex-employee (I do say this in jest as I back Castonguay here). I just hope it's not Ryan Johnson.

Odd choice for Gillis. He certainly wasn't a fan of Sekeres back in the day. I guess Gillis is having a hard time keeping his profile up now though.
Gilman has been on S&P so not that odd of a choice. In reality, there aren't that many shows to choose from.

Now go out and get that #3D that can hold his own

I miss how the 2010 team and Gillis had a **** you and we're better than you attitude. This year's team could use some of that
Swagger.

Look out, Buffalo will want to spend big and make a market splash.
"whatever it takes to get Pettersson"?
They HAVE to sell tickets for next year starting now.

While everyone is talking players no one is talking about the team’s character. No one. That’s the difference between the Canucks and everyone else. They don’t have the attitude that they are the best team every time they hit the ice.

This is a horrid stretch of their schedule and they’re laying some turds as a result. That said, they need to find that ‘f*** you, we’re better than you’ attitude on this trip and fast.

To me it's more of a confidence issue and they forgot what market they play in. Which is more or less a different way of saying what you said.

@Bubbles Tony iirc was a key proponent of the Gillis hire as well. Everyone and their f***ing dog wanted Brian Burke back, which is so Vancouver. "I DONT NEED YOU.......WAIT COME BACK!" He will never ever get another shot, IMO. But he's learned a ton from his own failures, I'm sure.

Sure, Gillis was terse with our media. But so was Burke and Nonis. And then Benning after awhile. After awhile, you kind of have to wonder aloud why that would be. I have my own theories.

That's because they were friends before he was hired. Gallagher and Geoff Courtnall got in the ear of Aqua and convinced him to hire Gillis.

Benning er Allvin needs to get his shoes cleaned because he has stepped in it. Or get a shovel.

Why is it rookie GM's make the same mistakes?

Allvin is coming very close to making all the same mistakes as Elmer but much faster.

But I do think he has more of a chance to correct the mistakes. The pain will be more but the longer he waits to rip off the bandaid the more the pain.

You know Rutherford stated upon hiring he didn't need to learn the team because there was so much video and he had watched. But everything changed when Allvin was assigned the job of running the team.

The "owned" media marketing has spent so much time diverting fans attention from the idea that Allvin and the coach may have some blame that social media is now gaining more credibility.
I will give Dhali credit when he ridiculed the point percentage on this road trip. 1W & 4L but his was pointing out before last game a .500 points percentage of 1W 3L. This just shows that bad teams are .500 and .500 doesn't represent a winning team with the OTL points

Clock is ticking Alvin & JR.

You have gotten yourselves into quite the pickle this season with the decisions you’ve made.

Not only do you have to figure out a way to get this team into the playoffs but ya better sit down and truly contemplate if this core group of miller, pettersson, boeser, debrusk, hughes, hronek & demco are the way to go moving forward. I think some very hard decisions are needed to be made here and personally, the sooner the better.

Hmmm, go all in and forget the future?

Trade Pettersson for a veteran 2nd line center and a top 4 dman with maybe a pick thrown in.
Sure, why not. Let next year take care of itself. Rumor has it Zibanejad might still be available if they throw in Schnieder. Then they have the first and second line centers locked up for another 6 years. Both will be in their late 30's but the roster spots are locked in.
Keep Boeser and offer him a 7 million 8 year deal with a NMC taking him to age 36 yrs old, who cares if he can still play then, he is already slower so maybe he learns to fight to keep a roster spot.
The team just has to jettison two or three other bottom six players to get him to fit.
Trade away a few more top picks for rentals, hell they won't be helping the team for 2 or 3 years down the road.
They might even be able to trade Willander/Lekkerimaki and a 1rst for O'Reilly or Nelson. There both vet centers that will help right now. The two prospects are years yet down the road and no real help this year. Right now.
Personally I still lean towards moving Miller. And the reason really is his demeanor. When things are going well it's not an issue but when it isn't, well, it pours gasoline on the fire. Everyone has known a teammate like that and you gloss over the quirks because of recent memories of what he could be. But eventually those memories fade and I get the feeling that is where we sit right now.

Willander/lekkerimaki....they are not years away. Willander will be a top 7 guy as soon as his college year ends. Lekkerimaki is gaining some trust right now. He may not be in the top of the lineup but he's getting his shifts and he's doing a decent job with his defensive responsibilities. If that continues he isn't going to see much more AHL time. He should be a fixture in the lineup from day 1 next year. Soon to be useful prospects are not the ones you move unless the return is substantial. Guys in their mid-30s, one a pending UFA and the other with years left on a contract, do not fit that bill.
