They’re setting themselves up to fail again. I mean, is this organization’s plan to basically not have a farm system, pay everyone UFA salaries, and try to strictly through free agency and trades? That’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let’s see how it works out for them.

For a couple guys who largely benefited from Crosby and Malkin, these guys have a fairly high opinion of themselves.

It is f'ing bizarre.

It is one thing if the management and ownership doesn't get it... how the hell do the media not get it?

so they are targeting young centers with the horvat trade is what they keep hearing.

1) the center probably has to be struggling or the team wouldn't trade him
2) He'd have to be older as this team doesnt have patience
3) Massive amounts of """"pedigree""" that he is still living off of

any candidates for that????????

sounds like somebody like Alex Turcotte
I wonder if they have looked at how many centers are in the first round of the draft, I mean that is where Horvat came from.

This team certainly doesn't seem interested in being better, despite all of the desperation about contending and making the playoffs we consistently refuse to reward players for good play and we refuse to ice players who help us win in favour of players who are overpaid and bad.

We're getting Horvat pissed and wanting to move on, and we aren't giving Kuzmenko chances to be his best. Hoglander and Podkolzin have both had their development tossed in the bin. Burroughs is the 4th best defender on the team and can barely get in a game.

But we're not rebuilding, it doesn't make sense, and it seems like we have no f***ing plan how to get better. Do they hope that one of our players agents is going to be able to negotiate a steal of a trade for us? Do they think someone is going to help us out? Absolute losers
Do you need?
Maybe this song will help, easier on the nerves ;) Kind of explains just what is going on, listen to the words

Hoglander sent down. 😆😆😆😆

The clown show continues.
I actually look at this as a 'positive', getting a young guy out of a toxic losing environment.

I've watched some of the Abby games on the NHL Network. They've got a good team, and the players look like they're having fun just playing the game. Hoglander can re-connect with Podkolzin and Klimovich, and maybe even on the same line.

Of course the 'bad news' is that it probably means that Pearson is close to returning from LTIR.....and the Canucks will be even slower.

Doing the classic "what we need to do to get in" thing. What would be a good bar for the playoffs do you all think? I went with 95 which would mean a 30-15-6 record, but i feel i may be undershooting.

Spouting absolute nonsense during the intermission of paying Horvat slightly higher than Hintz and giving Pettersson his new deal.

And have the core of Hughes, Pettersson, Horvat, Miller, Demko.

Insanely expensive core.
It’s not that expensive. The problem isn’t 5 players making $40m. It’s when you start tacking on: OEL $7.2m, Boeser $6.7m, Myers $6m, Garland $4.9m, Mikheyev $4.75m, Pearson $3.25m

That’s the core. It’s bloated and bad. That’s the good 5 plus the next 7. That’s the actual core and it’s over $72m.

He’s an aquilini plant.
Ever since that picture of him and FA at the airport...

If they could dump Myers, Boeser, and Garland I could live with that core.

I don't think Pearson or OEL are movable but sending them away would be nice.

And let's get Kuzmenko signed too.

Edit. Contingent on them refusing to rebuild/retool.

Lundell from Florida is my target.

sam reinhardt or sam bennett are my guess for the center coming back for horvat
Another Center they have would be the ask.

Canucks 2021-2022. started with 3 wins in their first 7 games and after 31 games in 2021-2022 had 30 points and a goal differential of -11.

In the offseason their GM Patrick Allvin said "NO one wants to take a step backwards" proving that he doesn't read HFBoards-Canucks, where a signficant percentage of Canucks fans wanted the team to do just that. He showed that he didn't want to take a step back by making moves to allow this core a chance to win: adding Mikhayev and paying into the future for the present day JT Miller and renewing Brock Boeser.

The interim results:

Canucks 2022-2023 started with seven consecutive losses and after 31 games have 29 points (a step back of 1 point) with a goal differential -21 (a backward step of 10 goals.)

As an aside, 4 of their last 9 games have been 5-1 losses.

There's a fair bit of anti-JR people now. Funny thing is, they seemed to give a heckuva long leash on Jethro Bodine. Like YEARS. Not saying JR is doing a good job (those contract extensions look Benning-bad) but this is just his first season really. Though the hilarious thing is, there are STILL a number that want Jim Benning back.

Yeah it took them a long time to finally turn on Benning over there, like a long time, they're a little brainwashed over there, I had so many endless arguments with them over there, then came here and seemed like 80% of the posters here seemed to have a similar mindset and understood the problems and weren't brainwashed like most of CDC, especially that one Mod Deb man was she brainwashed.

Not worth it's own thread but here's a little transaction:

Does Delia start Thursday(Kraken) or Friday(Oilers)?

I mean, which media? Drance and Dayal have been harping on this club's incompetent management for...years. Drance has pretty much been screaming the exact trajectory of this club and then...it happens.

I don't really follow any other Canucks MSM because they're all stupid.

7th worst team in the league based on points percentage, 31 games into the season on a team that pushed additional assets in to win this year.

At this point, pretty hard to envision a scenario where next year's team will be better on paper than this one with the expiring contracts coming up.

Shameful how this roster was built for this season and how vigorously people defended this team build.

A long time ago Botchford knew and was posting this stuff.

Someone stated the "No Plan, Plan" for Benning. Is this a repeat or is this a Shanahan trajectory? One year of doing nothing and then boom. The Shana Plan.

Hughes is NOT the best defenceman in Canucks history, just the highest scoring.

I wouldn't be too hard on the Canuck faithful, many of whom just want to 'believe' in something...anything. The shame belongs to the owner who enabled and defended Benning's eight-year 'reign of error',. which has doomed this franchise for years.

I'm not really speaking to that section of the fan base, they are what they are and I'm good with that. There's another section of the fan base that was fine with how this team was constructed this year and then fell back on "Demko just needs to play better" when this team sucked to start the year even though it was obvious there were much deeper issues.

Pretty much all the teams below us are rebuilding as well. Columbus prematurely tried to exit their rebuild. Philly seems to be unintentionally rebuilding. We are at best the 3rd worst team in the league that was actually trying to win this year.

That's basically it in a nutshell. In order to keep this group together, they won't be able to afford basically anyone else. Unfortunately, that group is not good enough.

That's called your window being closed.
When was the window open?
