I’d also want Pettersson not to fall so easily to the ice if he gets any contact whatsoever.

If there is anything that is become quite clear with this MG is they aren't letting valuable players walk and they aren't afraid to let non-valuable ones walk. Once Mott was gone it became obvious the 4th line wasn't worth resigning. The mistakes of the Benning Error are going and the new group is starting to leave their mark. JT wasn't going to get them what they wanted so they weighed their options. Not a great deal term wise but not like the disasters of JB. LE and TM signings weren't players with already established team chemistry the way JT has. I don't think they are finished reshaping this team and I think by seasons end several players might be gone. Bounce back years are expected of several players. And others will need to prove their long term worth to the team. They have as we know some ugly too long contracts and JT will fall into the category at some point. They know they have the core of a team better than the Oilers and they see a window in the next few years if they can add some important pieces. The question is how?

After the sacking of Green and Benning; and the ascension of Rutherford and Boudreau, the Canucks had one of the best records in the Western Conference.

I'm glad they're basically bringing back the same roster to see what it can do over an 82-game schedule. Plenty of opportunities to make changes at next spring's TDL if things don't work out a hoped for.

Pettersson using his speed in the neutral zone and cutting to the middle in the offensive zone is one of the most dangerous players in the entire league. Even when he started to produce, last season, he wasn't doing that. By the end of the season he was far more consistent. Went from shifts, to periods, to entire games looking like what he was when he first entered the league. That Pettersson completely changes the dynamic of this team and makes the Canucks an actual threat.

Travis Green was a vampire feeding on players morale.

I don't believe that Green was fully responsible for Pettersson's long backslide. A large part of it was a young player getting repeated injuries, both minor and major, and started adjusting his game to play safer style. Where coaching really failed him was not getting him through that phase. Everyone seemed content with a 60 point perimeter Pettersson that they could sell as a gamebreaker.

Sure would have been nice for Petey to have the player the young guys call "Dad" helping him along through some rough stretches.

The sky is falling! We signed that scrub JT Miller long term and it's a clear sign our management is as bad as Benning.

Would love just one quote from the previous thread that calls Miller a scrub, that isn't sarcasm or taken out of context.

It's this and 'Oh yeah? Well, I don't see your detailed, comprehensive 2 year plan posted on here so you have no room to comment. Now excuse me while I find some mouthwash after 8 years of fellating the previous guy..." that make discourse on here so rough, lol.

I've seen a couple posters say this signing is signs of the last regime. Probably more actually.

But in any case I was just joking, not trying to bait a Cabucks management political war. Most people on here are sensibly accepting of the deal but see the complications down the road.
Your "I was just joking" is utter bullfeathers. It is an untrue exaggeration to take a shot at those with a different point of view than yours and your "I was just joking" is just a way to avoid having to back up your words.

The dismay by many to the Miller signing is based on an argument about the team's direction and planning. Suggesting, dishonestly, that Miller's current level of play has anything to do with that argument is just a way of deflecting the argument and insulting those that don't like the current management taking the same priorities as the old management.

Are you really insulted?

Our board has a tendency to over exaggerate a lot of things. Just making light of that. Relax.

It’s bullshit. Our board has had to and still has to put up with a ridiculous amount of self trolling from our Benning stans. Our board has been f***ed over more than anyone the last near decade. There is no hyperbole from this board. This board has been abused. Still is.

Some points from a recent Athletic interview with Patrik Allvin.

I don’t know - sounds like mixed responses about Horvat with Allvin. Will be interesting to follow.

He talks about cap space, future signing of Elias Pettersson and recent signing of Miller. Maybe foreshadowing something or just using these factors for negotiations.
