Let's see, with all the offensive power the Russians have, Malkin was nevertheless able to make the team having without having played one game in the NHL.

Crosby on the other hand, who is dominating in his first year and is having a better season than most of Team Canada's roster, can't even make the team even on the taxi squad. Many believe that he whines to much which may or may not be true, but there is no doubting his effort on every single shift that he plays unlike some members on this version of Team Canada. I guess he's not experienced enough right wayne?? Ridiculous.

Could somebody please explain the logic of excluding Crosby from Team Canada??

Simple. Crosby was not among the top four or five players of his position. Thus, he did not make it. Malkin's status with the Russians has no relevence to Crosby.

Also, I'm pretty sure there have been about six dozen threads on this exact topic already.

If you want to complain about a rookie not making it, the greater travesty is that Bryan McCabe is on the team ahead of Dion Phaneuf.

You can't really compare what the Russians do and what Canada does. Hockey Canada brass had their reasons. Not much we can do about it. It's already been debated endlessly. The discrepancies over who should've been on the team and who should've been left off should be saved until after the gold medal is handed out. Until Canada gets knocked out of the tournament, we can't really criticize the current team for not getting it done.

Well for one, who is Crosby going to replace at Centre? Not Sakic, not Lecavalier, not Thornton, and not Richards. For one Crosby is too young, secondly Malkin is better, I think anyways...and thirdy it's probably easier to make the Russian team since they don't have the depth like the Canadians.

Hasn't this topic been beaten to death already?

He didn't make it because there were better players ahead of him for the role he would have played on the team.

Savard has a more legit beef for being left off the team than Crosby, he has been one of the most productive offensive centers in the NHL over the past two seasons.

I made a very intresting observation : Crosby fans tend to whine just as much as their master! I wonder if that's because Crosby is actually a whiner, or the other way around! :sarcasm:

Take it easy, I'm only joking anyway.

Sorry but Crosby is already light years ahead of Lecavalier and Richards. Those guys are a joke.
Secondly Malkin is not better. Crosby is better. Malkin looked out of place in his games against the world's best and hasn't even played a game in the NHL.

Gretzky, now exposed for having a shady personal life, has used his bias to pick his buddies. Plain and simple.

Stupidity. Thats why Canada lost to Switzerland. Too many old slow dinosaurs who are 'character' guys instead of talented.

The only center on team Canada that may be considered better than Crosby is Thornton and even that is debatable.

Better at what, taking foolish penalties?

Crosby is probably not in the Top 10 when it comes to Team Canada C depth right now.

I'm a huge Pens fan and a Crosby fan. I have no beef with him not being there, he will have his time to shine for the next 3 olympics if not more. The kid is 18, Canada is deep down the middle, it just wansn't meant to be this year.

As far as Malkin goes, he has one of the best if not the best player Russia has had on the ice in the olympics. He has played fantastic so you saying he has been out of place is just silly and makes your other points meaningless. Malkin has played strong, just because hs hasn't put up 5 goals or anything like that. He has been strong on the PK, great in his own zone and good at creating scoring chances with 2 non nhl players on his line.

I would say he is easily top 10. Crosby for as bad as a rap as he got earlier in the year has toned down the penalties and yapping by leaps and bounds.

Name 10 canadian centers better than Crosby.
I can barely think of one or two.

Malkin isn't better? Still hung up on his "thin bones"?

Who cares how much he yaps. At least it shows he cares.
Someone said there is 10 canadian centers better than Crosby. What does trash talking have to do with who is better.
10 centers better than Crosby!! :biglaugh:
Complete lunacy.

The Top 3 on the team right now, Spezza and Savard.

That is 5, if I wasn't at work now I could do a bit of research and come up with the rest.

If you think that right now Crosby is better than Marc Savard you are out of your mind.

I guess you are backing down on your claim.
Good.
Next time you won't spout your mouth off without thinking.

I would honestly be curious to see this list. Not so much to pick it apart, but to see who was on it.

Like i said before, i think crosby is perfectly capable of playing the wing with Canada's depth down the middle.

Thats because Malkin > Crosby. ;)

Crosby is much less effective on the wing, for an example look at him earlier this year when he was used on the wing for the Pens.

Crosby is a natural center, that's where he should stay, IMO.

I find it hard to believe that someone who actually thinks that Crosby is the 2nd best Canadian center is accusing someone else about not thinking before they type something.

I gave you 5, how about you tell us all why Crosby is better than the Top 3 C's on Team Canada, Jason Spezza, and Marc Savard.

Canada is just a deeper team. And I think it's hilarious how everyone turns on Crosby talent wise when he is not dominating on a horrible team with underachievers who don't work at 18. Ovechkin is also on a horrible team, but his team mates atleast try and he is 20.
