Win or lose, we all know our core is seriously flawed. Is this the year we finally see a major trade from within the “core”?
I doubt we look to trade matthews.
Do we ask Tavares to waive?
Do we move Reilly with a year left on his deal? Do we resign him for big money?
Do we move Nylander (the only one who is playing very well)?

Or.... do we do what most people are probably thinking?... Trade Mitch Marner.
It seems like the most sensible thing to do to reshape a very flawed core. Does anyone believe this core can achieve great things (salaries considered)?

Marner for Eichel? (What needs to be added?)
Marner for picks and prospects (what can we expect)?

Will Dubas even be the guy making the moves if we lose game 7?

Waive Tavares ???????

the core may not perfect but the bigger problem is the team can't fill out the roster with enough quality players to compliment it due to Dubas incompetent handling of the cap

JT should never have been signed and now he's unmovable even if he waives due to his 11m cap hit .

The only quality we've received in the first round is our depth players. Without them, this series would be over by now. It's the core group that's not performing.

Spezza has more goals than Hyman, Matthews and Marner COMBINED.

Our depth is fine.

The issue I have is I'm not sure how aggressive we must be with breaking up the core. Obviously something has to give, but what combination of 16, 34, 44, 88 & 91 need to go?

If, for example, it's only 16 then we can retool on the fly, but if it's 16 & 34 then we're in borderline rebuild territory. If worst comes to worst, AZ would pay a king's ransom for 34, but idk where 16 would land.

Thornton-Simmonds-Mik haven't done squat , Hyman isn't a core piece and has also been brutal .

if Willie isn't going Kerfoot goes back to being invisible

basically it's just Spezza playing well out of our vaunted depth

M and M need to produce but we still should have finished off the Habs before game 7 if our depth was anywhere near as good as it's made out to be on this forum

I seriously doubt the leafs will trade any of the top 4 should they lose the series, i mean Nylander might be possible but i don't see it, i do agree that something has to change, a new coach, a new gm, maybe moving rielly, trying different bottom 6 forwards, but i don't see a huge Marner/Nylander trade happening.

All this is part of the process and requires patience especially when things look really really bad.

Marner is the only contract who is seriously overpaid based on what he brings in the post season. He's too nice for playoffs hockey it seems. Matthews can still get it together. He's showing an interest in playoff hockey and laying the body at least. That gives hope. Plus he can rip the puck for days. Even if he isn't right now.

Mik is earning every last penny of that 1.6m. Although i would have him on the 4th line

no use in swapping deck chairs. marner for eichel or jones / tavarse waiving trade clause non sense .
Core will stay intact other than Andersen leaving and very most likely a new pp coach next year . Team will be close to the same next season

Marner is the only one to move from the big guys. Tavares and Matthews obviously can't and Nylander at $7M is value plus he can actually score in the playoffs. Marner is the odd-man out then and $11M is a tonne of cap room to be able to wiggle around with though if we get rid of him we're obviously taking back a bunch of cap as well.

Holy smokes. UGGGHHHH did we lose.....

NO, its all arranged we win in seven.

How is it arranged.... To set the odds.

Borje said, if we win, this series, we win the Cup.

What does he know, what do I know.....

Go all in, ON the Leafs, odds are correct now, for the next sting in sports betting.

Leafs to win.

Course all the sheep will retract their trade superstar, threads, right afterwards.

This is how its been done, for eons.

I want the hundreds of fans of the Leafs, who have no beleaf, to burn all their sweaters after we smoke the HABS in seven.

Big trade of lousy for good fans coming . Monday.

When do you buy stocks, when there is capitulation. No one has ever dared written about it, in a book.

When do you go all in on two guys that are top five scorers, in the NHL, REGULAR SEASON, when every last LEAFNATION, puke fan, starts threads to trade them.

Leafs are going to pound the crap out of the pesky habs tomorrow night.

Borje and I are calling it.

LOL, buy a 6 49 while you bleat.

Spezza will not be doing this in a year or two and I doubt they will get equal production from another $750k guy They will need the cap space to spend actual money on bottom 6 talent. Not the same rabbit out of the hat with the other two old vets as they kind of cancel out the win. This was Spezzas playoff to shine and they appear to have wasted it.
