Post-Game Talk: Machinehead vs Ice Cream Girl

I only saw the last 10 mins of the 3rd but they got bodied to an embarassing degree as they threw it around the boards and generated 0 shots.

Shades of Parking Lot Panarin from the playoffs. But with everyone.

It's not instinctive for the forwards to drive to the middle of the ice. They get angled to the boards all the damn time. And the dmen also. They continually go cross ice to each other at the blue line only to be angled off. The result is a bunch of deep angle shots that any goalie minding the post and short side will eat up.

It’s only 4 games in, so I won’t get crazy, but I just hate the makeup of this team.

Soft perimeter team that just gives up when the chips are down.

Team is going nowhere. Perennial playoff team that isn’t a true contender. God, if only I had seen this exact script play out for over a decade before somewhere else. The kids are absolute busts. I’m sorry, it is what it is, stop with the excuses. The vets are gutless country club wankers. The leadership is non existent. The speed is abysmal. Worst in the NHL. I don’t know what we’re supposed to get excited about.

that was pretty boring. Generated nothing up front and made too many dumb mistakes.

Cuylle was probably our best forward, followed by Trochek (although his PP and the offside dragged him down). Panarin was ok in patches. Chytil, KK and Laf were somehwere between unsighted and useless. Mika needs to shoot during 5v5 play and not shoot so much on the PP.

Fox was pretty good, Gus was more positive than negative, I thought Trouba had a really steady game and Quick didn't suck.

Overall, very crappy.

We know our team is mid. They lost. I fast forwarded through most of it.

When they get in these funks they treat the opposition like concrete walls they could never hope to get through and keep skating away from them to get angled off more easily.

The longer it goes the worse it gets. I don't understand. Just crank a f***ing point shot at their neck and they'll stop brick walling you.

We didn't initiate contact along the boards and on dump in and Nashville did.

Also what a lazy f***in off side. An extra stick handle at the blue line for no reason sure, but even then, no excuse to not drag the foot just in case. I saw it right away and groaned, then told myself 'please don't score please don't score'. Once it was in I have one last hope, the last ditch prayer of 'maybe they didn't notice and won't review it'- hasn't worked...yet. I don't bother celebrating these, I just rewind to confirm what I thought and then skip ahead until the inevitable 'no goal' goal.

Trotz isn’t even the coach. Brunette was with the Devils who were pretty high flying. I don’t think Nashville played a particularly boring or defensive game either. I think we just genuinely actually suck. A lot. Our team speed and the country club brain infection that makes everyone feel comfortable and complacent means we can make the playoffs non-stop but we will never, ever have what it takes.

There's no reason 5 games in with days of rest they skate around like they've played 8 games in 11 days except they're soft and checked out.

That was the only really bad game so far, so let's not.

Definitely continue to be disappointed by certain individuals tho.

well lets be honest we haven't played anyone that good including three teams that are probably bottom 10-12 teams that crushed us (jackets and preds).
The team we actually played well against isn't even a playoff team again this year.

Our offense was hapless in that game. It's going to happen. We're too slow and have too many nobody's in the top 9.

Putting Kakko on a line with Kreider and Zibanejad and Laf with Chytil and Panarin was 100 percent the right move and a few more games of looking how they have and I think it'll be officially panic mode time.

Kakko looks like someone who spent the past three seasons so concerned with being safe and not making mistakes that he's forgotten how to contribute offensively.

Lafreniere makes one nice pass a game then disappears completely.

Bad, really bad.

This is going to be the season the Rangers marketing team transitions back to talking about rebuilding. The Letter 2.0 is coming.

Its pretty funny to think about but if Adam Fox became had a passion for accounting they probably wouldn't have made the playoffs a single year.

They'd have rebuilt properly and be looking to make the jump this year.

I really just don’t think that this group has anything better ahead. The ECF was the peak of the mountain. The guys who were true impact players are only older, the kids haven’t taken a single meaningful step, the same warts exist and are actually only worse because with age we get slower. We just suck. We might be the actual most overrated team in the entire league.
