My cousin was at the game and said the rangers looked like they were playing in slow motion on every goal. Way too many odd man rushes. If they looked slow in person.... what a bad game.

Vegas flu or more covid cases coming?

This is a completely fair point to make and I agree.

But something to consider. Kakko played his best maybe ever in a Rangers sweater when he was playing with Panarin and Strome. Why is he not back on that line? Zib and Kreider only want to play with each other, they almost never look to set up Kakko. Kakko is still not being deployed properly. Hughes gets 1st PP minutes on the regular - one of his points last night was an assist on the PP. When Panarin is back Kakko is going right back to 2nd PP unit.

Totally agree.

No one was throwing a parade for being in first. We all know that the Metro is going to be a bloodbath jockeying for seeding down the stretch. One road loss (without 2 of our 3 best players) to the best team in the west in which our 3rd pair and 4th line were the biggest reasons why, isnt the disaster people are making it out to be. Just be better on Saturday.

The Rangers are 22-4-3 against teams that arent Calgary/Colorado/Vegas. Good thing we wont play them again until June
Yeah like who is he even arguing against?

Well it’s also why you don’t throw away any of your best assets going all in.

This is a good team but most national pundits are low on them for a reason. The underlying numbers continue to suggest we are a hot team playing above our grade.

That doesn’t mean we need to be despondent. We are a good young team that is ascending…. but there is a bit of fools gold here that we need to be aware of. Buying the narrative that we are an elite team that needs to take its best shot now is misguided and will end in the loss of assets with nothing to show for it.

We have more growing to do before we are an elite team and probably need 1-2 more core forwards added, I know a certain cadre of posters don’t want to hear it but it’s the truth. At least 1 more center and winger long term.

People say enjoy the run and I agree, but also be realistic about what it is. Don’t get delusions of grandeur. We aren’t ready.

That god we had McKegg in again who was a -2.
I really figured we were due for a loss here, so it doesn’t surprise me.
But Now we’re down Hunt too. Are they going to give Barron a freaking shot yet???
Having Chytil/Gauthier together is dead weight right now.

think going around him right now is deliberate...obviously he's the guy who can realistically be a long term answer and should be ready now to claim a role here. his appearances to date haven't been terrible but they've certainly done nothing to demand he stick around. get the feeling they're trying to light a fire in him thats evident when he gets his next opportunity.

either that or theyre legitimately underwhelmed by what theyve seen, his progression, or attitude which would be surprising.

Either way, very odd to bring him up not to play

yea don't get me wrong i'd rather see him than gettinger or whoever and think hes best suited to provide stability at 3c in house...just offering my take on why we havent seen him. hopefully if so it works for the best...id guess, assuming its what i think its about, he gets another crack before too long. gallant today sounded like hes all but done w/ chytil at 3c

That was interesting.

Today was the first time where I can remember him openly saying that Fil hasn’t played well.

yea i think most coaches, but gallant especially, tries to keep individual criticism - especially specifics - in house. the furthest i can recall him being willing to go was acknowledging needing more from someone a couple times. and he did try to dress it up a bit today speaking to fil still being young and learning and that he was working / wanted to be better etc...but ultimately the point was loud and clear that he hasnt been good enough in that role. i think the big picture assessment is we play around that line being useless in games we can out talent teams or get by on goaltending and the pp/top players carrying the load...but when we play the top teams this team cant win consistently with a line thats offensively toothless and a defensive liability, and center play has been the heart of the problem there.

7 pts from him has been pathetic. I know he’s had some early bad luck, but he hasn’t helped his cause. Try him at wing before they trade him for a change of scenery

yea i'd move him to wing for now...and i wouldn't throw him on the block just because that wouldn't help any return. but into the deadline he's certainly the number one piece i'm trying to work any deal around - he should still have fairly high value on the market due to upside tho he's sabotaging us there by the game right now
