Letters aren't a huge deal, he is an on-ice leader, I think everyone sees that. Lupul and Mac are likely one of the two more vocal guys in the room

With a young group getting younger, its good to hang on to some vets who know how to put the puck in the net. I like the choice.

I will say though, Macarthur seems like a guy you want in your dressing room. Pretty well spoken, seems like he takes care of himself well, and very importantly he will stand up for his teammates on the ice.

Would've went with Lupul and Liles, just from we as the fans can see of them on the ice and in the media.

But Clarke is probably a big vocal leader in the dressing some of the kids look up to.

I think Grabovski and Liles would have been better picks but I'm not in the dressing room, so who knows.

He's a veteran. There are few, if any, Leaf veterans that get much respect around here.

I can't speak to that but he seems to have paid his dues. All I can say is it feels a lot smarter to give it to an established type than handing the responsibility to a younger guy who has enough to pressure to deal with. ((a la previous admins)

Yikes MacArthur is a horrible choice - the guy's in the penalty box every second shift - kind of defeats the purpose of having an assistant captain on the ice no?
