Why would anybody want to go to Prince George? I wouldn't blame him.

Brandon is fine, they have an actual stable organization that has produced a number of NHL prospects lately, not a graveyard like PG. God that place stinks.

Am I also out of line to think there is a chance Quenneville becomes better than Clague? The way Quenneville plays with his head up.. and his confidence is something else, wow. There's a kid right there that's not going to be intimidated in the least playing against older guys.

Size might be an issue moving forward. He also has a ways to go on the defensive side of things before I would put him in the Clague area. He reminds me of Ryan Ellis/Ryan Murphy.

It looks like the Vancouver Giants will have the first chance to select Tyler Benson in the upcoming WHL Bantam Draft:

WHL ANNOUNCES BANTAM DRAFT LOTTERY RESULTS
2013-03-20

Calgary, AB – The WHL Bantam Draft lottery was held today at the WHL Office in Calgary to determine the order of the first six selections in the first round of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

The WHL Bantam Draft Lottery involved the six non-playoff teams (Vancouver, Prince George, Brandon, Regina, Moose Jaw and Lethbridge) from the 2012-13 season. A team could only move up a maximum of two positions in the Bantam Draft.

The Lottery selection process was performed by Miranda Stacey from KPMG. The 2013 WHL Bantam Draft will be held in Calgary, AB, on Thursday, May 2, 2013.

A Regina Pats ball was drawn in the lottery, meaning Regina moves up two spots in the first round of the draft and will select second overall. The Vancouver Giants will select first overall, the Prince George Cougars will have the third selection, the Brandon Wheat Kings will have the fourth selection, the Moose Jaw Warriors will select fifth, and the Lethbridge Hurricanes will select sixth overall.

The order of the second round and all other rounds will be the inverse order of final 2012-13 WHL regular-season standings.

Players eligible for the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft will be 1998-born players who reside in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

There's also talk that you may not select Kale Clague either, who some feel should be in the discussion for #1 too.
I'm not Pats fan, but that has to be concerning.

Is the though Clague won't report to Regina? If he won't go to Regina, I can't see him going to Prince George.

Is Brandon much better?

Maybe trying to stay in Alberta (Lethbridge maybe).

Not really. Benson is the consensus number 1. Lots of talk about Sam Steel going second as well. Honestly, after watching Claque and Quenneville, I would take Quenneville over him. Claque is a good player but I've just been more impressed with Quenneville. However, I think Claque will be picked before him.

Fantastic name.

[His dad] said that his Tyler would be pleased to go to any team. When pressed about the Vancouver Giants, who have the best chance of winning Wednesday’s WHL draft lottery, he said that his family knows Mason Geertsen’s family well and like what they’ve heard about the Vancouver program from them. He also said that Tyler has done a fair bit of research via the internet and feels positive about Vancouver from that.

Awesome! Congrats Giants and let's say that Vancouver has gotten some REALLY nice pieces as well. Only sad thing is Prince George could've really used this kid.

Prince George had a pretty good 2012 draft and they managed to sign all their good picks(I believe?). That young talent could help convince a top player in the 2013 draft to report to PG. Just spitballin.

Im not sure he would have reported to PG. I dont know if anyone will want to tbh. That franchise is a mess.

I'm not sure if it's because he wouldn't report.
I went to go back and look for the source on Twitter, but it was deleted.
The tweet was likely meant to be a DM, so take it as a doubtful rumour I guess..

Should have included the source initially to avoid this.

I've seen WHL scouts say the two are neck and neck this season and while Benson is more likely to go first overall, Clague is no slouch either.

By the way, is "Claque" going to become a thing, like "Sequin"?
If so, can't wait!

PG has a great rookie class coming in IMO.

Harkins and Morrison are going to be very good players, I'm not sure if Olson is signed, but he'd be a great add on the blueline.

Maybe that selfish kid they took in 2011 comes back...

My computer sucks and wont play the video, but in the description it says both Sean Day and Tyler Benson were granted exceptional status.
If you have an ad blocker, turn it off temporarily.

Also, that's just a mistake as Benson was not granted ES.
In fact, he didn't even apply and didn't really think about it, according to a recent interview.

thats what i thought. thanks or the clarification

For an NHL comparison, is a meaner, nastier John Tavares anywhere near the mark? I know he probably doesn't have the same pure skill, but from what I understand both guys aren't the fastest but protect the puck very well, and generate endless chances due to their superior hockey sense.

I was honest to god getting scared for a second earlier he might be going to PG, wow. Vancouver will be a terrific place for him to develop hopefully. They have a decent enough track record with prospects and winning environments.

Whatever, I'm pretty confident in 3 years they won't be a threat. We'll see though. Nice pieces, but we'll see.
