Hehehe Toews must have been something else in Bantam. Over 5 points a game in a Tourney someone mentioned being the best in Western Canada.

My friends dad was doing the score keeping and was pronouncing toews's name wrong all the time so Toews dad came and told him how to say it right so scouts wouldnt get confused because he was going to be a top prospect.

he thought this was a dick move by Toews dad, but guess who was right..

Benson lit up Camrose tonight for ten points and now owns the AMBHL scoring record with 132 points, one more than the previous record of 131 owned by Ty Rattie.

Kale Clague of Lloydminster also broke a record tonight after he picked up three points against CAC for the AMBHL defensive scoring record with 67 points.

Has Benson played any Midget games this year?

Benson and SSAC defeated Lloydminster and Kale Clague tonight 5-2 and took the best of five series 3-0 to take the AMBHL North Division.
They'll meet the winner of the South Division (Calgary Northstars or Lethbridge, Calgary leads 2-0) in the next round for the provincial championship.

Not trying to jinx them or anything, but if SSAC ends up winning the AMBHL, everyone will be able to watch Benson, Quenneville, et al. online in the Westerns via FASTHockey.

Tyler Benson's agent confirms that the western Canadian phenom will not apply for exceptional status to play in the WHL next season.

Well there you go

We knew he wasn't applying for exceptional a month ago. Overheard at a game this weekend that Vancouver is "very interested". Have also heard that if a team like Brandon wins the lottery they might take Clague.

Benson dominated the games this week. I was at Game 1 and he got shutdown the first period before putting up 2g 2a in the second. Kids got a wicked shot and explosive feet.

Quenneville impressed me equally as much. Extremely strong, good point shot, and hard to beat on the defensive side. Moves the puck outstandingly. Would not be surprised if he ended up going in the top 5-10 as well.

I have been to every SSAC home playoff game and Brandon has had a scout there every game. I would be shocked if they take Clague first as Benson is clearly first the better one, but you never know anything can happen. I have also heard Brandon is very interested in Quenneville, but they obviously will not take him first overall if they win the draft lottery.

There is speculation that Benson will spurn smaller markets. That is the main reason he chose not to get exceptional status in case he would have to go to either Brandon or Prince George if they won the lotto. Shame though Brandon has a good track record of developing players. I think Brandon takes Clague 1st if they win. If not they draft 3rd overall and probably go after 1 of the manitoba boys

Fabbro and Steel would be great picks aswell. These two impressed me at St. Albert.

I do not think Benson will spurn Brandon his good friends brother plays for them and probably would like going some where he knows someone, but to be totally honest I really do not blame and top prospect that refuses to go too PG. That franchise is a mess right now.

I went to game 2 on sunday and I didn't leave disappointed. First of all, his team is very exciting to watch and it seems like they don't have anyone who wont at least play junior A. They move the puck really well and I would recommend checking them out on fasthockey in the western championships if you get a chance...unless of course by some miracle my boys from the Northstars can pull of an uspet. But that's not going to happen.

This kid really does have a remarkable amount of talent and I have no doubts he would be standing out in the AMHL if he were permitted to play there his year. I felt bad for the kid who had to try to shadow him all game...he tried, but Benson was too much to handle and the Northstars couldn't generate any offense because they had one player always right with him. Also, the game was at my old home rink and place of high school employment and I have only seen the place more packed twice. I'd say he lives up to the hype and I am looking forward to watching him tear up the hockey world.

Why would anybody want to go to Prince George? I wouldn't blame him.

Brandon is fine, they have an actual stable organization that has produced a number of NHL prospects lately, not a graveyard like PG. God that place stinks.

Am I also out of line to think there is a chance Quenneville becomes better than Clague? The way Quenneville plays with his head up.. and his confidence is something else, wow. There's a kid right there that's not going to be intimidated in the least playing against older guys.
