Good for him. I wouldn't love to have that 6.7 million contract.
Yeah you're stuck with Horcoff instead.

I'm sure your post has everything to do with the point he was trying to make also.

As for the thread, if the Oilers want Hall, they're going to take him. They have 1st overall and can pick whoever they damn well please. That's the beauty of having the pick.

I doubt Tavares wanted to go to the Islanders, Stamkos wanted to go to the Lightning, Kane to the Hawks, Nash to the Jackets or Johnson to the Blues...why would they? Those teams sucked....and now they're starting to turn things around. Hopefully the same will happen with the Oilers.

Hall may prefer one team over the Oilers but I really doubt it's "Bruins or bust". I'm sure he'll just be happy to be picked by an NHL team.

I've actually joked that since Iginla and Phaneuf grew up Oilers fans around Edmonton and ended up playing for the Flames (not to mention Jay Bo and Langkow are also Edmonton born), the hockey gods wanted to rebalance the hockey universe and give the Oilers Calgary-born Taylor Hall, lol.

Anyways this is all moot since Hall has said several times he wants to be drafted no.1 and would love to play for the Oilers and is already friends with Jordan Eberle.

How long till Hodgson becomes a bust?...

I was just joking....

Hodgson is far from being a bust. I'm kinda looking forward to a top 9 that has Sedin, Sedin, Burrows, Kesler, Sams, Raymond, Hodgson, Schroeder and Grabner in it.

Am I the only Oiler fan completely satisfied with how Gagner's development? If he didn't get injured late this year he would have broken a career high in points.

How long till Sam Gagner becomes the player Oiler fans hyped him up to be?.
Oilers fans hyped him up? Why do people play stupid? You think it was only Oilers fans that had high expectations for Gagner when he broke in as an 18 year old?

http://hfboards.com/poll.php?do=showresults&pollid=28468

40% of people thought he would be an 81-100 point player and 80% thought he would be at worst a 61+ point player. It wasn't just Oilers fans voting...and he's 20 years old so I think he has time to meet those expectations(even if he probably won't).

I remember reading an article where Van Riemsdyk was interviewed and he said he was a Rangers fan growing up.

At the end of the day they just want to be in the NHL.

Seems that ever since the draft lottery most people seem convinced that Hall wants to play in Boston and is just giving Edmonton lip service....

I'm sure Seguin and Hall both want to play for boston. What does that have to do with anything?

So are you saying Sam Gagner will be a 100+ point player?.....

I think he is saying that it is not out of the realm of possibility, and he is right. There is no way to know how good Gagner will be in the future, he is a 20 year old 50 point player right now, and still has lots of time to develop.

Just like I heard Tavares always wanted to play for the Islanders. Stamkos always wanted to play for the Lightning, Nash for Columbus.

The honour of being taken 1st overall trumps anything - end of story. Lindros shenanigans is extremely rare, and does not happen anymore.

So much can change in 2-3 years, but the time these kids even crack a roster or become an impact player, their NHL team could be a contender.

hall is a proven winner and thats what edmonton needs, him and eberle will bring a new culture to the team.

seguin looks impressive, but he disappeared in the OHL playoffs, and had a terrible world junior camp and was cut from the team
