which UFA LW should the Leafs target in free agency?

Schwartz is by far the most interesting player on that list but unfortunately, sounds like he wants to stay in the West per the rumours.

The Leafs have had a long rumoured interest in Granlund so I'm going to say he's likely the choice of the Leafs.

For depth, I think re-signing Galchenyuk and/or Bunting would be fine additions.

Losing guys like Hyman, Foligno, Bogosian has left us soft enough. I'd rather much rather at least get a hard forechecker like McGinn than a guy like Granlund. Galchenyuk was a decent forechecker with skill, so I'd welcome him back if we're headed to the bargain bin.

McGinn would be a nice add

Hyman is the only forward we lost. Foligno was barely here and hardly a difference. Bogosian was a solid bottom pairing defenseman, no doubt.

McGinn would be fine as a bottom winger but he's far far away from a Hyman replacement with his career high 30 points. Granlund isn't great either but he's at least capable of keeping up in an offensive role and he's got a much better track record in that aspect. He's a good forechecker. Granlunds worst offensive season was just this past season on a bad Nashville team. He'll bounce back and could very well put up a great season next to someone like Matthews.

According to Seravalli, we have not. They still in contact.

But regardless, even with Foligno...the leafs still need to add a LW. A hyman replacement.
Foligno won't close any doors until he's signed somewhere.

Joel Armia and Riley Nash would be good additions to the bottom-6 and could also reduce Marner's PK minutes.

Jokers.

Every suggestion is player X on cheap :D . . . Can you imagine being UFA ? I bet they all looking to take a league minimum to experience 1st round exit with Leafs next to overpaid Marner :D.

If Kyle had 1/10 of the cheapness you got now back when handling contracts to RFAs with no leverage...

We need to spend on 3 players. 1 mid tier left wing, 1 3rd line center and a back up goalie. The rest we have to trust our system to produce on entry level contracts.

Then pick up as many PTO as possible to create competition in camp and get some guys in on cheap deals who were left out as cap casualties.

I would target guys like Derek Ryan, McGinn, Bunting and Perrault on Forward and Halak or Ullmark in net.

I see many people want Tatar and I have no clue why, he's been terrible in gis post season career and remained a healthy scratch most of the post season. Even when Montreal wanted to shake things up he rarely got the call.

I'd take a look at Hoffman, his shot on our PP could help a lot and he's pretty much proven he will score no matter where he goes.

We could get a banger with some balls in Lawson Crouse in trade. Coleman is not in our price range is he. I would think its high time we have a player or two that are a bit nasty in this lineup. You know because you lose in the playoffs without them

Funny that back to back dominance by the most skilled team in the league in TB makes people want more tough guys.

Saad, Galchenyuk, Paquette, Dzingel, Glendening

in that order talk to 5 and sign 2

I'd also talk to Parise and see if he'd like to play LW with JT or Matty for a couple of years(2) for around 4m per

Parise - Matty - Marner

Gally - JT - Willie

or
Saad - Matty - Marner

Parise - JT - Willie

or

Leafs management must forget about skill at this point. They need Gamers not guys who can dance around pylons at top speed. That's not what this team will ever face in the playoffs.

Get guys who have won the Cup or have helped contribute to a deep run through physical play, puck retrieval, smart two-way hockey and just plain determination.

Come playoffs, we all know the drill. If Leafs management is still naive about this fact it's their delusion not anyone elses. Their skill translates to losses when the middle is clogged up and some players are too afraid and frustrated. They mentally and emotional curl up into a ball and wait until the boogeyman leaves. Another early exit.

The problem is, the unknowns about other teams use of cap and their targets.

There is an ocean of difference between Leafs skill and TB skill. Kucherov and company show up when the chips are down. If a star doesn't show up, that "skill" is just wasted ice time.

Fear is not easily unlearned. You can't change the stripes of some players, the only thing you can do is surround them with enough Gamers to make them feel more confident and comfortable. Even provide a blueprint on how to bring it when it matters most.

I feel slightly embarrassed to even post that when I'm referring to the most well paid players on the team, for the most part. Courage and conviction should be a given for anyone in the NHL, even moreso if you're more higher paid.
