Borders on a slew foot, Bartscki pulls him back with his left arm, kicks out the left leg. Don't think it was malicious as it was just kinda awkward.

Yeah, that's basically what happened. Also,I think it's justified wether he slew-footed him intently or not since Kassian was holding him with his free arm too (bonus point for an extraordinary reaction if it was intended though).

Except that Bartschi's left foot never even touched Kassian.

Watched the Heat play the Wolves and I couldn't believe how good Bartschi looked out there. This kid is going to be a great player for Calgary! Wow!

Bingo. In that shot, Bartschi's left skate goes behind Kassian's right skate, so it has the appearance of a slewfoot.

Yeah, not a slewfoot at all. Looks to me that Kassian tried to make a play on the puck, wasn't expecting Baertschi to make a strong play to fend him off. Once Kassian realized he was beat he looked to embellish the "fall". Why else would he stick his leg up in the air after he fell? He definitely tried to get the call after he got beat. Not a bad play, just didn't get the call...and he shouldn't have.

Or you know, he lost an edge going full speed.

Have you guys skated? There is no dive there and Baertschi is no super human, Kassian lost an edge, watch his feet.

A) How is this a "great moment"?

B) Who would make a GIF out of this...

I'm very confused...

It was just a funny moment. Kassian was very good that game and 5'10" Baertschi shrugged him off on that play. He scored about a minute after.

Still don't get it. Looked like something you see 100 times a game to me... Flames fans should be excited about this kid, but I don't think we need GIFs of people falling down beside him do we?

I believe it was done because Baertschi is a smaller guy (not tiny, but slightly undersized height-wise), and he one-armed Kassian (who I believe is about 6'3 215). It's seen as a positive sign for people who might've had concerns about potential physical issues in the pro leagues for Baertschi.

strange play... maybe Kassian is going for a dive.. i still like zack but he doesnt compare to sven

I don't see it. Looking at the way his skate catches and loses an edge, it's clear he fell. You can't embellish something like that.

Baertschi strong armed him and was helped out by the ice. It's impressive. From looking at Baertschi's movement he puts a lot of effort into it. He's strong but he caught Kassian off guard.

Plus he has the advantage of being a smaller player. It's easier to defend with a smaller center of gravity. Being a tall dman, those players that can do that are the bane of my existence.

From that angle it looks like a major league slew foot. followed by a embellishment. Sven's shin clearly hits Kassians calf as he is pushing him back.

It was a humorous play, 5'10/11 player strong arms a 6'3 215 pound man. Don't be so butt hurt.

"Clearly hits" Kassians calf? Their legs graze each others. This is not a slew foot, or an attempt at one. Both players were going fast, and in the matter of one second Kassian got strong armed, and caught an edge. Do people even realize how hard it is to actually slew foot someone going that fast, in that amount of time, to that big of a player? :shakehead

Yeah his leg is doing a totally normal skating motion... He clearly kicks his leg out from under him as he grabs his arm and twists Kassian backwards. This is coming from a fan of neither team that likes Bartschi a lot more than Kassian.

It's not a slewfoot. It's just a bad angle that's being shown. In every other angle, his leg's not even close. Kassian just looses an edge.

lol @ people not realizing exactly how fast the game of hockey is. no chance you can call this an intentional slew foot.

also completely misses the point of the post.. back to sven.

Who does Baertschi remind you of? (playing style)

I see some Patrick Sharp with a mix of Logan Couture.

I see Hossa personally. Obviously tempering expectations, but this guy has shown he's been an elite player at every level, it's pretty clear he doesn't even need a full year in the ahl, excited to see what he could do in a top 6 role in Calgary.
