I totally read January 8th...it was December 8th!
Sloppy. I'm a mess!
https://www.championat.com/hockey/n...ovodstvom-minnesoty-davlenija-na-nas-net.html"There is no specific talk about Kaprizov's departure to the NHL yet. Nothing is set in concrete about this scenario yet, because he has a contract with Salavat Yulaev until April 30th, 2018, Ufa is his nearest plans. Kirill has joined the team and is fully ready to help them to overcome the currrent slump.
I did personally talk to Minnesota's management during the WJC, Kirill didn't as he was busy playing. Wild have shown their interest, pointed out Kaprizov's great talent andd said that tey got a 5th round gift. But there was no pressure and talk like "Give up everything and come to us". We seriously respect them for that".
What a 5th round STEAL! Congrats, Minny. The Fletch guy ain't a complete tool, after all, it seems. Lol.
Just speculating, but is it possible that he was missed by so many scouts due to where is he is from? I just looked up his home town - Novokuznetsk - which is in eastern Siberia, just a few hundred miles northwest of the Mongolian border. Is there a heavy scouting presence way out in that area?
3 points today already, game still in progress.
So 2+2 in his 1st game since WJC. Of course strugling Salavat beat Spartak 5-3.

Kaprizov was called a "future Sergei Makarov" like 3 years ago. He was considered the next big young Russian player along with Guryanov. He had a lackluster draft season, though. Just 1+3 at WJC U18 was a terrible statistics for such a talent. On the other hand, he had 8 points in 31 games in the KHL (look at Rubtsov, who scored zero in 15 games, being 1 year older). He still was clearly a 1st round talent, it was stupid, that so many NHL teams ignored him. Now they feel the pain of their ignorance.

GMs often have little say in the draft. Chalk up that steal to the scouts, not Fletcher.
