I am thinking up front it will be Mazur and then one of Lombardi/Danielson. I might actually lean Lombardi if it is a choice between the two. I would like to see Danielson be more dominant in the AHL first, unless he has a big summer and looks great in Camp.

On defense I think the only guy who should be in the conversation is ASP. I am really hoping he looks impressive in GR in his short stint and makes the team next year. But we will have to see how the next few weeks go.

I see the range as 2-4 rookies on the opening night roster. What do you all think?

Mazur for sure
Axel and Ammo are 50/50 to me
Nate needs to have a great playoff/camp to crack in my opinion.

I say at least one, but no more than 2.

1??? That would be so dissapointing .... been saying it for a long time if we keep delaying the kids we’ll have times when we must add 3-4 rookies at the same time and that time is now

Mazur 100% makes the team. Danielson almost made the team last season and I think he gets in now. Yzerman needs to prepare for this it’ll be a lot harder to make room for him after camp if let’s say compher who’s also a C is someone who needs to go. Can’t give up more assets to move bodies

Mazur and danielson are in for me. Wallinder will be 23 , it’s now or never. Either 3rd pairing or extra Dman , I’d say trade him now for Lukas Fischer but if he stays he has a shot. After the season asp had I’d say he gets in , especially if he has a great ahl playoffs. We can ease him on the 3rd pairing and use him on the ppl

Mazur, danielson, asp are in imo . I’d put in Cossa but Yzerman won’t

Year after lombardi(prob in mid season) cossa nygaard ... finnie? ... we have no choice but to start inserting 3-4 kids a year now

The only people really knocking on the door were Mazur and Lombardi, and both of them got hurt this year. Maybe Cossa, but they thought they needed to trade for Mrazek, for whatever reason.

Guys like Wallinder and Buium are not knocking on the door. These guys were 2nd round picks who were extremely raw and were always going to need a very long runway.

Personally I want to see Danielson be more dominant before we put him in Detroit. Believe he’s been pointless in 7 out of his last 10 games. Like I said before, unless he has a big summer I am fine with him starting next year in Grand Rapids. Give him MBN as a winger and let him produce some offense and get his confidence going. Then see if you can call him up later in the year.

I think ASP, Lombardi, and Mazur will make an effort to crack the lineup. Whether they stick is another question entirely. I can see Cossa getting more than a game in as well, but I'm not sure if he's gonna be our #3 goalie. He's either the #2 on the Wings (with Talbot or Mrazek being #3), or more likely, he's the #1 in GR.

I think another factor, whether we like it or not, is what we do during free agency. Do we buy out folks like Holl and Copp? Do we find someone willing to take those contracts? Do we go out, 10am on 1 July, and sign Marner or a similar player, and let the chips land where they land?

What we're able to do in the offseason will impact which rookies are able to stick with the team. Once the dust settles and we enter the regular season grind though, I think ASP and Mazur stick with the team, while Lombardi and Cossa will be our go-to injury call-ups.

I think Mazur is a lock. I'd pencil ASP onto the blueline. I think Nate and Lombardi deserve shots, but I can see Detroit leaving them in GR to start the year but are first call-ups.

I have a hard time seeing Holl any higher than 8th on our blueline depth chart next year. I hate buying guys out, but I wouldn't be against him just being buried. Hell, didn't Holl get benched here recently in favor of Lageeson?

Only rookies I’d like to see are Danielson, ASP, MBN, and Cossa. The rest are just depth guys. Cool if they make it but likely no more than 3rd line players. At least at the moment.

I remember hearing danielson almost made the team. Never heard anything from lombardi and highly doubt he almost made it after his 26 pt campaign last season. I think he has a legit shot next season but we all know how we like to keep everyone down until they have to. I can see him being here 20-40 games in and being here for good afterwards

Ya that Mrazek trade made no sense which makes me think they’ll delay Cossa. I just think wallinder gets the earlier look cause he’s been here longer than Buium and is 23

Well people questioned Soderblom and Kasper, think danielson will be better with better players in the nhl. I don’t think he’ll be what we hope for a top 10 pick but I sure hope I’m wrong. All I know is we have a ton of kids coming and we have no choice to play these kids otherwise what’s the point of drafting and developing them? Least deal some while they still have value which is why I suggested moving wallinder for Fischer who’s 3 yrs younger and keeps someone in the system for later and still have buium soon

Yzerman under the pressure to make playoffs and it could slow down prospects playing in NHL. Lombardi, Mazur, ASP, Danielson, MBN and Cossa should be all have some games in NHL next season.
However I only expect Mazur opening game .
I expect Yzerman will add in free agency power top6 forward and top 4 big defansman

Mazur, Amadeus, ASP.
You can make legitimate cases(imo) these guys should have been on the roster after the TDL at some point. I guess they tried with Mazur and he got a freak injury.

I think those three guys are locks and guys like Toumisto/Cossa/Danielson really have to shine and hope Yzerman clear roster space.

Be interesting to see what happens in July. That'll tell us a lot more about how the staff/organization feels than just guess business we're doing now.

Assuming full health, I'd guess Mazur to start the season and then Danielson and ASP as call-ups down the road.

I'd expect Cossa and MBN to have great years in GR and then join Detroit next season.

I don't really care about any other prospects except Buchelnikov, who has another year in the KHL.

That's my point. Either he's not gonna be with the team next year, or he damn well shouldn't be (ie: buried in GR or Toledo). Same with Copp. Same with Tarasenko. If that means packaging one of these guys with a draft pick for future considerations, a seventh round pick, a sausage biscut at McDonalds, whatever... so be it.

Along similar lines, someone in that front office needs to tell Stevie that just because something is on Craigslist doesn't mean he should go out and buy it. It's time to reel in the big fish.

Without any major trades other than dumping Compher and Holl, and no major forward UFA acquisitions.

Lombardi-Larkin-Raymond
Soderblom-Kasper-DeBrincat
Tarasenko-Danielson-Kane
Frederic-Copp-Rasmussen
Mazur

Edvinsson-Seider
Gavrikov-ASP
Chiarot-Johansson
Gus

This is what I'd like to see. If you're not going to make major moves to add game changers to this team, then at least the kids play.

I would like to wait until after the Griffins run and Worlds to really access this in all honesty. There is still some high stakes hockey to factor in, additionally curious if anything changes on the Buchelnikov front.

I will say with Danielson, Lombardi, Finnie and Becher you have center depth in the farm while pushing somebody up to a wing role with the wings. I have been clear I want this to be the karate kid on the first or second line wing. I think Mazur is a lock. I am also curious if Wallinder forces his way up but the playoff run will be big there and I sort of expect them to buyout Holl, add a top 4 D and block off the defensive spots and bring Petry back in the 7th D role.

Toumisto could be the 7th D. It would be great to move on from Holl and Gust on the backend. I just think they will give Petry one more one year deal.

Danielson and Mazur for sure.

Maybe ASP but I’m not sure if the wings have him start on the team.

I think Ammo is up as first call for forwards. Cossa comes up at the first sign of goalie suckage.

I really believe Ammo is the first call up as well, now he can change that with a dominant post-season run. The Griffs have some roster spots to play for in terms of Yzerman’s build. They also have been reinforced with the talent for a deep AHL playoff run.

Copp and Tarasenko are not the same as Holl. Holl has been truly awful, played limited minutes and had to be protected. I know Copp is a favorite spacegoat but he is useful and will continue to be as we bring in young centers.

Tarasenko was a massive disappointment this season but I'd rather he get a chance to redeem himself with a bounceback year.

Holl though does deserve to be bought out/buried.

I think Cossa getting called up will be inevitable, and I’m here for it.

Agreed. The trade was weird at the time but apparently the goalie free agent market is underwhelming this summer so I get having Mrazek there. Talbot will be 38 years old and the Wings haven't exactly had great luck with goalie injuries. I understand not wanting to have to throw your promising goaltending prospect the starter early in the season because your other goalie is hurt.
