Nice first period for him he had some good chances. The only problem I see is he looks overwhelmed sometimes with Canada's speed but that is also made worse on the big ice I don't think his skating is going to be much of a problem on the NHL ice with sometime to work on it over the summer.

Maybe by production but otherwise he haven't been even best player on Team Finland.

I think your expectations are a tad too high if you think he even should be the best player on Team Finland with Barkov in the team.

I disagree: this one game will not matter that much, as GMs and Scouts base their opinions on a body of work over many games watched.

I guess it's a bit semantic, but at least I'd argue that this is a more meaningful game in that body of work than, say, a U20 game against the Czech Republic in November as it's one of the handful of games this season where he plays against NHL-level players.

I posted this in the Can-Fin gdt but I guess it'd be more appropriate to discuss here.

I've been really impressed with Laine's ability to dish on the backhand. Obviously you have to be good at that if you're playing a wing that's inverse to your handedness, but still it is impressive how well he can pass.

To all the Laine can't go first AINEC people:

- On mahdollista, että se on Laine. Näin asia menee. Keräämme pelaajista kaiken mahdollisen tiedon. Meillä on yhä paljon aikaa tehdä päätös. Näen Patrikin ja Austonin täällä MM-kisoissa uskoakseni vielä kaksi kertaa. Organisaatiomme ja pääkykyjenetsijämme Mark Hunter tekevät parhaan mahdollisen päätöksen Torontolle.

Babcock: Sure (It is possible that Laine is the 1st pick). You gather all the information you can. We have quite a bit of time to make our decision as of yet. I'm going back to watch Patrik and Auston, i think that i can catch them two times each. Toronto management team and head scout Mark Hunter will make the best decision for Toronto.

Is he going to fix his stride, lateral movement, stops and starts, all in 60 minutes of play?

That should be looked as a great thing, he's been able to do what he's done because of his skill, not because he has skated around everyone.

Can't wait to see how his skating looks like after few offseasons.

His best game of the tournament, like Ferraro said. Battling all over the ice
Babcock caught a good game to watch, aside from Canada embarrassing themselves

What a cheap shot by Perry. Had absolutely no reason to do that whatsoever.

Here's hoping and praying that doesn't affect his game or tournament. Laine's best game so far, goals or no goals. Was expecting him to be on the passenger's seat but he's created number of chances already and playing like a professional. Amasing.

Gotta agree with Ferraro. Despite being pointless he have been really intense and fights hard every situation.

Wtf was the point of doing that. It doesn't bring any momentuem to your team, you get the other team pissed and your teammates are at a threat to have some one target them. If you want to make a impact go hit Laine (or anyone just saying him since he was involved) open ice. Perry has to be smarter than that. Hope no one goes after rielly, ceci, McDavid etc
