It was a stylistical potential top 6. I like the styles of Hoglander and Podkolzin if they were to reach their ceilings, or even become 2nd line guys in alongside Horvat. That's all it was.

Don't make something out to be something it wasn't so you can get likes from opposing team fans that think you are oh so humble to not be overrating Canucks prospects. Not once have I called Hoglander a steal. I was simply making a stylistic top 6. Obviously I shouldn't have because it was a huge issue.
HAHAHA what the f. You think I'm posting concerns about him to get likes?? Hilarious. I'm tempering expectations, nothing more. I realize I should've responded to the other guys' post in the first place not yours. My bad

This is the best goal I've seen in awhile.

But to temper expectations, I'd expect a guy of Hoglander's style and size to have to produce at about a .75 PPG in the SHL to get into the conversation about being significant in the NHL. He's currently at .4. Hopefully he turns it up a notch.
WHat are you talking about dood!!?? DID you not see his goal??? Are you just posting this to get likes from other teams??!??

Wow what a goal!!!

I agree w Disappointed EP40 and thelittlecoon though. He hasn't lived up to the hype to begin the season so impossible to call him a future top 6 player right now. This goal doesn't change anything.

Very possible with this board. Thanks for apologizing though and realizing where I was coming from.

At this age, scoring .75 PPG in the SHL would mean he is one of the best Swedish forwards in decades. Usually, only future elite NHL forwards score at above 0.75 PPG at Höglanders age. It is extremely unusal, if he scored at 0.75 PPG he would probably have been a top 5 pick. 0.4 ppg is very good, he has outperformed most first rounders this year. The SHL is much harder to score in than the AHL, for example.

You are 100% right. Thank you for correcting me.

I thought Hoglander was a year older putting him in that higher range.

That said, with his type of size and skill set, I'm still hoping for 0.5+ PPG

putting up 0.5 ppg in swedens top league the year right after being drafted would be amazing and would indicate that u have a close to sure fire NHLer on your hands

Surefire NHLer? Probably. Surefire 50 point 2nd liner? Nope.

Usually that would indicate a surefire 60+ point top 6 player, most players to score more than 0.5 PPG the year after being drafted turn out to be first liners or elite players.

Hoglander scores a Michigan and you’re already pencilling him into our future top 6? IMO Lind or Madden have a much higher chance of becoming a top 6 player. Hoglander has loads of skill and abilities but after watching him this year he leaves a lot to be desired. Really needs to simplify his game and start making better decisions with and without the puck, because right now I don’t see high end hockey IQ. I think he’d be a perfect 3rd liner on a contender if he reaches his potential.
Sounds like you're watching a lot of SHL over from Vancouver.

I watch almost every game, just like I did with Pettersson after we drafted him. Games are easy to find online and most of them are at 10am my time.
When I lived in California I would pay for the Swedish streaming service and use a VPN to be able to access it. But that was many years ago. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what he can do and if he stands out in anyway against guys his age in WJC.

I imagine he will look quite good against his peers, he was a standout in the WJSS this past summer.

Yeah I thinks so too. I made a case on the Swedish WJC thread the other day that smallish - skilled - speedy guys often seem to excel over larg more sluggish players in that tournament. It's when guys like Höglander enters leagues like SHL that they might get in more tourble, not to talk about NHL. However I could see him on a third line in NHL one day, that's not too bad for second rounder.
