Don't see him coming over now. Kucherov was his best friend, couldn't seem to talk him into it.

Unless Vegas was allowed to talk to him for some reason.

To me, with the team they have as we speak, adding Gusev could mean a 3 to 4 ranks jump in the rankings for the Knights.

Paired with Shipachyov, these 2 could do some real out-of-nowhere damage. Fingers crossed.

Edit- that is, of course, considering they would end-up in the last couple of seeds in the rankings. Don't know where all the experts already place them. Too soon to consider their line-up season-ready anyways.

Dadonov-Shipatsov-Gusev

The most dangerous line in KHL.

66 + 76 + 71 = 213 points this year.

Any specific reason why he doesn't want to come over? Just happy in the KHL?

He's got a KHL contract till the end of the year. And I'm not quite sure about the Tampa situation, but it was either lack of playing time, or he wanted a longer contract. If it's a contract issue, he can just wait till the end of the season and come over then, as he will be a free agent at the end of the year.

I'd assume that VGK believes they can sign him this season, if they took on a bad contract for his rights

I think SY wanted to bring him over earlier, however, wanted him to play for the crunch something which Gusev didn't want to do. My guess is that he will wait until the end of next season and then make a decision on what he does. I wouldn't say that took a bad contract they got some good assets for a player who has one year left on the deal.

I'm glad Tampa doesn't have him anymore.

I think the strength of our forward prospect pool made this an easier deal for Yzerman to make. We're pretty strong on the wings, and our prospects are younger and cost-controlled for longer. Gusev is 25 now, and still incredibly small-framed (even by Tampa standards). I'm guessing Yzerman wasn't sure he'd come over, and if he did wasn't sure there'd be a spot for him.

5'10 is incredibly small nowadays? But I'm not gonna argue about Gusev's perspectives in the NHL, we shall see, when he comes and plays.

******** he didn't k ow if there would be a place for him. He knew like we all know, if Gusev comes over there will be a spot for him on any team in the top 6 and there is no debating that. He would be Tampa's second best winger behind Kucherov. Namestnikov, Palat, Killorn, etc can't hold Gusevs jock. Don't minimize Gusev now that he's gone. And he's bigger or similar to guys like Gaudreau, Atkinson, Marner, Konecny, Guentzel, Aho, Panarin...size isn't what it once was. Kid comes over he will be a legitimate top line player.

while there may have been a spot for him on TBL line up, he has given no indication over the last few years to come to the NHL. can honestly see him never coming over.

That I can agree with. He may not ever come over and that's the reason to move him. But not because Tampa might not have been able to fit him in their "stacked" lineup. That just was a load of crap to minimize his talent and potential.

I don't think there's any guarantee of that. First - question if he comes over. Second - question of how he adapts to the NHL. It's a much faster game than in Russia. It's much smaller ice. It's much more physical.

Not everyone who does well in the KHL can hack it in the NHL. I like the kid and thought he should've been given a shot, but he is getting overrated as hell around here. He's 25 years old and has never touched NHL ice.

They used to say the same things about Panarin, and he is, as far as I remember, on the NHL 2nd all-star team now.
