To be fair it could have been 99% done, but then Kings came in last minute with a better contract that Kovalchuk couldn't pass up (for a team that was at that moment in a better position for the playoffs, but we all know what happened after that).
Aren´t some countries, clubs using figure skating coaches, to teach skating technique. I think Finland was among them.

I wouldn't say that Gusev has poor skating, but it definitely isn't his strongest asset, mainly because he isn't particularly fast.
Rumor is that he's coming over at the end of April, once is KHL contract is over

Just kick those stupid "rumours" in the bin. When his contract is over there is 10 days to WHC. That is where he will go.
Vegas next season? Probably. Why not?

Except, his contract already got terminated, yesterday/today. Both SKA and the KHL officials already confirmed this.

I think Knights should put Gusev straight to the 1st line

Same stats for Shipachyov in the 3 years prior to joining the NHL:
88 G, 220 A, 308 P, 1.19 PPG
Just because you produced in the KHL, doesn’t mean you can produce in the NHL. I think Gusev is better than Shipachyov but they have nearly identical production at the same levels prior to their move to the NHL. The stats really mean nothing when considering how a player will transition to a higher level.

Yeah but... Gusev is what? 7 years younger, Gusev is way better skater and doesn't have language issues, isn't soft either.
So not the same thing... but good pick up nevertheless, cause you never know, even thou its not the same thing
Do you mean Shipachev didn't produce in the NHL in those 3 games he played?

Shipachev is actually pretty good and CAN produce in the NHL. He just didn't have the patience to work within Gallant's system and Vegas wasn't willing to gave him carte blanche.
NHL success is all about fitting within the system. No one cares how talented you are unless you demonstrate real chemistry on the ice and get along with others in the locker room.
I hope Gusev isn't expecting much because he's gonna get jerked around big time by Gallant for a good while. He's an outsider and Gallant will be loyal to the guys who busted their butts for him all season.

There is only one line, that scores for Vegas right now. What will happen sooner, other lines start to score or opponents neutralize that only line, I wonder.
Anyway, Gusev isn't at his best right now. The least, he needs to get accustomed to a new time zone.

I was really hoping to see this kid in action during these playoffs but so far he is hardly needed for this flying Vegas squad!

Alright, Gusev made that move. I have an idea why, but that was hard to predict especially given the players were not exactly vocal in the open. I am no SKA or Team Russia insider nor have I ever claimed to be. So I was wrong once on this one.
Bad for Gusev btw. Looking at those Gallant comments he might end up in a Shipachyov like situation.
