He's definitely missing the WJC with how he's played in the NHL. Good for Joel and ultimately good for USAH.

A.V is the type of guy that will loan him to the USA. I could be wrong, but A.V knows this is his last chance and will do the admiral thing of loaning him to the states.

No team loans a guy playing in their top 9. It just doesn't happen. It only happens when a guy is either coming off injury (Pastrnak) or is getting 4th line minutes.

Plus, regardless of how much kids talk about wanting to play for their country. Most would rather collect almost the 200k or so they will make playing in the NHL for December and early January over being at WJC camp and the tournament. The NHL is a much more luxurious (hotel accomedations, chartered flights, etc) and profitable life-style, people rather be doing that then spending 4 weeks getting ready and then at a junior tournament.

So much young depth on this team but it's gonna be so hard to hang on to these players in the long run.

I really do smell a Stanley Cup coming somewhere before 2025.

I’ve smelled that since Pronger took them to the finals...hopefully you are right and it’s not something we’ve stepped in.

AV’s more loyal to the team that writes his checks.

The only way Farabee is getting loaned is if he’s really struggling around that time & they feel it’s beneficial to his development to send him.

He just go demoted or loaned to the AHL technically. He started off the season moderately well for a rookie but has since slowed down significantly. Does this move look to be longer term or just a temporary stay over and he should return for most of the 2nd half of the season?

Maybe they are just looking for him to smooth out any bumps in his game and to gain a little confidence?

Either way, was a bit unexpected but looking at his recent play, maybe it shouldn’t have been. And yes, superficially atleast, the demotion is because Hart got injured and they needed to bring Lyon up. But I think Farabee’s play put him in a position to be the guy sent down when someone needed to be.

Absolutely on fire this year in his sophomore year. I always thought his ceiling was that of a low end first line winger who could get around 60 points while providing good two way play.

what do you guys think his ceiling is?

I'm a little late to the party. But after this past 20/21 season, he looks like a surefire 1st line winger to me and almost certainly one of their best 3 forwards. Maybe eventually their best, or top 2 forwards.

Comparisons: lol. Selanne? Ok realistically he won't reach Selanne level. Iginla and Recchi going too far? All around 6', Recchi a bit smaller. Maybe the closest comparison of the 3 though. A bigger Theo Fleury? If he truly reaches his ceiling though, I am not sure Iginla LIGHT is out of the question. Patrik Elias? But I'm going with Recchi comparison for now. And he's about 2 inches taller than Recchi. And Recchi was a grinder, all heart and was everywhere on the ice. Farabee isn't quite as fast as Recchi, but still, fast enough. These of course are "best case" scenario.

Guentzel seems a decent comparison for current NHL players though. Maybe a floor of like Perron.

Either way, he's a future all star caliber player. Maybe not a guy who gets selected as an All Star every season, but always in contention to be at that level. If they pair him with the right center, and wing partner, the sky is the limit. I think all ready as good as Konecny, and getting better.

This is one of the most ecelctic combinatons of comps I've ever seen. Personally I put him somewhere between Martin St. Louis and Zdeno Chara.

You're overthinking it.

Prime Patrick Sharp is probably a safe comparable. He won't be as good as Elias (who is borderline HOF) and certainly not Iginla.

Damn fine player though.
