Does this kid look sick or what? I'm reading those Panarin comparisons from earlier in this thread and it's hard not to get excited....
I’m still not ready to make those comparisons but I do think Buchelnikov is showing improvement. I see where the comparison comes from in terms of style of play though…

With my biggest concern with the Winga rebuild being that they really have no star forward prospects in the pipeline, I’m very happy to see how great he seems to be this season.

If he can turn into a legit ~PPG player then the Wings will be dangerous

To me he seems like he's worked diligently on improving his burst and speed over distance. The hands and brain are still there, a fun player to watch.

My biggest concern is that there won't be a spot in the top 6 for him and he'll get the Berggren treatment.
Why would that happen?

Tarasenko - signed for 2 years
Kane - signed for 1 year

Once they let one or both of them go there will be room for Buchelnikov

That makes sense. But history suggests Yzerman will overpay for some 32-year old winger and Buchelnkov will have to spend a couple seasons in Grand Rapids before getting a shot.

Berggren hasn’t showed much of anything thus far in the NHL. So his lack of opportunity is due to lack of skill/what he brings to the roster.

He isn’t good enough to make the top 6 nor is he suited for a bottom 6 checking role.

Buchnelikov is a sniper and will make the team if he continues to trend in the right direction, though there is still a lot of development needed before he plays in the NHL.

If you stuck Kane on the 4th line he wouldn't work his way up the lineup either...

Berggren isn’t even able to sniff Kane’s jockstrap; that’s how wide of a gap there is talent wise between the two players.

Kane wouldn’t ever end up on a 4th line because even at the tail end of his career, he brings way more to the table than what’s looking more and more like a bust of a player in Berggren.

But this isn’t a Burger thread.

This is a Buchelnikov thread and this kid is currently on fire!
