LW Dmitry Buchelnikov - Vityaz, KHL (2022, 52nd, DET)

Dude let's just hope he's a Top 6 NHL winger and be ecstatic with anything more than that.

You're trying to compare him to superstars and are setting yourself up for disappointment when he's not.
I'm being tongue-in-cheek mostly, but yeah I do have high hopes for him.

To be fair though, I don't really see a lot of in-between for this guy; someone correct me if I'm wrong. If his game translates, he should be fantastic. If it doesn't I don't see him holding down a 3rd line scoring role as he doesn't have the physicality or 2way play to support that. Boom or bust it seems.

Funny because I was thinking, could be Panarin Lite or Kaprizov Lite... Could be Damien Brunner or Ville Leino.

1. Aim low and avoid disappointment.

2. The KHL ain't what it used to be.

He's very promising though.
Are we still doing this? This was the line explaining why, in spite of Michkov's impressive time in the KHL, he was actually two or three tiers below Bedard as a prospect. Read it a million times on this forum. Of course reality has a way of putting such stupidity to bed over time.

Buchelnikov thinks the game at such a high level, high skill guys like him only don’t succeed if they have average to below average hockey IQ. But he’s got both. The only thing keeping him from being a high impact player will be his size and durability at the NHL level.

Michkov was not "Two or three tiers below Bedard as a prospect" and Bedard hasn't lived up to the hype.

... Those two factors explain why you're apparently confused.

Size doesn't matter that much on PP, skill and IQ do.
Wanted to ask you since you watch the KHL - how do you compare Buch and Demidov? Are they close at all in ability? Do you see Demidov's first game showing he will likely be a great player in this league bode well for Buchelnikov's ability to translate his game, if at all?

Buch vs Demidov is roughly about the same as Panarin vs Kaprizov. I'd personally take Kaprizov over Panarin.
