Holtz hasn't been good at the U18 WC. Was downright bad against Russia.
Eh, watching that game it looked like neither team wanted to get the puck to Holtz's side of the ice. Think they should split up Holtz & Raymond, just doesn't work and hasn't worked in a while. Last tournament the little we got from Nybeck with Holtz was fantastic, would like to see those two together.

Yeah, looks like Raymond probably deflects the first one, not 100% sure about it though.

They showed another angle on TSN and slowed it down. You can see Raymond get his stick on it. The trajectory it was going that was hitting Guathier square in the chest. You can visibly see it change direction. Unless Holtz is the first kid to be able to shoot a wicked slider.

He banked one in from the blue line off Raymond and he tipped in a point shot. He wasn't much of a threat. I still like Raymond as a prospect more.

Is he a top 10 player for next years draft?

To early to tell. Definitely a 1st round talent at this point. OHL has a pretty solid group of centers, WHL has a deep but not amazing crop, best player in the US is probably a Russian import in the USHL, Q has the best player so far but they also have some other kids who could push for the 1st round, Finland has a couple decent kids and usually has some risers. Czechs have two pretty solid kids.

At this rate I'm pretty comfortable saying he could be a 1st rounder for sure. But outside of Lafreniere no one seems to be a lock for a top 10 pick yet. Good chance Byfield, Raymond, Rossi, Drysdale and Lundell end up there though.

I wonder if Holtz would report if taken in the CHL import draft. He's probably already too good for j20 and the men's side already has 11 forwards under contract so it's not a gimme that he plays enough at that level.

Djurgården has had him participate in practices with the men's team in over a year now, and gotten his nose wet, he's going to play in the SHL next season full-time.

I'm not sure I'd call Gushchin the best player playing in the USA. Its definitely not a good American crop, but I wouldn't even be sure that Gushchin is a first rounder next year. A small winger with good, not great production isn't a definite first rounder.

There isn't really any true standout yet in the US and I don't think Gushchin is a guaranteed 1st rounder either but he was the best 2020 eligible in the USHL this year. Great production for an U17 player, the best actually. Though Berniers was better but USDP. Not sure what Gushchin's plans are but I could see him going to the CHL next year via the import draft. He may be small but that matter less and less these days. I think he'd be smart to try and get in on a good OHL team for next year.

Holtz was good in the U18s but maybe not living up to the hype in this tournament, I expected perhaps a little more.

Yup, thought the same about Raymond, who turned it up during the finals, though.

Hopefully we'll get to see them at full force during Hlinka. Add in Eklund as their C and that should be fun to watch.

Eh 8p as an underager is good. Jack hughes had 12p as an underager last years.

Points wise not bad, but he was a heck lot better at U18 Hlinka, playing against the same, if not better, opposition. The same could be said about Raymond. These guys were dominant at Hlinka, they were imo just good at U18 Worlds. Both guys played longs seasons though, getting bruised up in the Swedish junior league playoffs etc.

Looking forward to seeing what kind of show they put on at Hlinka this year.

They are excused since they delievered in the final. Rarely do swedish stars save it for last.

Will he play in SHL next season? Or are they going to place him in J20 again...

Looking forward to follow this kid and Raymond. Anything can happen this season in the race between them , even if Raymond are ahead right now.
