I have yet to see any team more than a 3-1 underdog this year and very few that were worse than 2-1 dogs. Most everyone is keeping a cool head, the problem is that the small subsection of deliberately antagonistic idiots each have the volume of 10 men. Dunning-Kruger effect with a Brian Blessed impersonation.
Opinions are fine as long as they are yours.....we get it already.

Two thoughts:
1. How about these lines:
Laine Scheif Ehlers
Connor Roslo Wheeler
Perreault Little Armia
Copp Lowry Tanev
2. Trade something like:
Myers, Connor, 1st round pick
for Ekman-Larsson.

* I compare him to a Nik Lidstrom. Extremely solid, talented d.
I dont know if he's at Lidstrom's level but I do like that trade proposal. :thumbu:

I just don't understand when a stud center galls 8nto your lap u put him on the wing. Chef and wheeler should be centers

Wheeler isn't a good center. Over the time Scheifele was out his close score corsi was 45% which was the second worst among forwards on the team during that time. That was with easy matchups and the best zone starts on the team. He also only had 7 ES points during that time period. Don't let how great the rest of the team was during that time period fool you into thinking that Blake was good as a C as he struggled mightily to push possession. He lived on the PP during that stretch.

I think you are over stating the Scheifele Wheeler struggles. The line had strong possession numbers matched up against the Rangers top line and had multiple grade A scoring chances. They look a bit choppy at times but they played mostly in the Rangers end. I'd reserve struggled for Ehlers and Armia tonight.
I just think that Scheifele and Wheeler need to be better if the Jets are going to go anywhere. The top line should be a lot better than the Rangers' top line, and they were playing against a pretty weak D. Wheeler doesn't finish well at all. I thought the PP with them struggled at times, though Laine takes some of the blame for that.

While I applaud Wheeler's work ethic which is second to none, I don't see him as having elite offensive decision making skills. Not sure which line combinations are ideal, but I don't think the Scheif-Wheels combo should be etched in stone.

Don't read too much into some of this.

When we lose:

Some of us will be hard on the players
Some of us will be hard on the posters that are hard on the players

both are result of frustration

Actual fans that are hard on players, no one has a problem with.

Fans with post histories that defy credulity, showing someone that literally only ever posts to shit on the team they allege to cheer for, that's an issue.

"Yay jets / boo jets", no problem.
"Jets suck lol according to these five completely fictitious observations with no basis in reality / {weeks / months of radio silence}", now it's a problem.

Until the Jets get coach with a winning track record who knows how to roll out 4 lines effectively, mediocrity is all that will be achieved.

"Mediocrity is all that will be achieved" is already refuted, since we have been anything but mediocre all season. Still a top pick to win the cup this year by all proven math models. No way that's mediocrity.

Clearly you don't, since A) I've never said anything of the sort, which you can verify by the countless opinions (even those contrary to my own) that I have no grief with, B) when you start speaking of empirical facts and specific calculable phenomenon, "opinion" ceases to be the key word. You can say the Jets are likelier than not to miss the playoffs. That absolutely can be your claim. And you will be wrong. Empirically, demonstrably wrong. "Opinion" ceases to be the issue here.

This is how I feel about Wheeler as well. His work ethic and leadership cannot be questioned but I don’t see him as an elite IQ guy. I don’t think he should be on the pp and it might be time to try him on another line.

People need to relax ... Jets play Rangers like this 9 of 10 times they win this game ... okay 8 of 10 Maurice is the coach.

I liked more of the game than I didn't like. A game of breaks. Better team doesn't always win. The worst team in the league (assuming you agree that it's Arizona) have still won 23% of their games.

I'll be interesting to see if that actually happens - Wheeler and Scheif have been successful together, and then add Ehlers.
Wheels / Scheif can keep up with Ehlers on his zone entries and know how to position themselves to set up off Ehlers. This line could be dynamic.

The second line has been a scramble all year and ineffective a lot of the time - I felt the addition of Matty with laine and Little was a good mix and also appeared to be the best place to spot Laine - he needs 2 guys that work hard and will get him the puck.

Third line is waiting on Lowry - set in stone

4th will miss Matty but Roz can fill that hole easily - Roz / hendy / Tanev

Rambled a bit there but wanted to cover all of it to show that maybe Wheeler is fine where he is

Every coach does this. Babcock, Quennville, Cooper. Doesn't matter if you have won a cup all coaches role with vets over young guys. It's not something unique to Mo's coaching style.

But sometimes you need to send a message to the vets who underperform and park them, while sending out your young guys with momentum instead. Maurice fails to do this, all he's ever done is idle certain young players and run with vets no matter how lousy they are playing.

I find Scheifele needs to get comfortable. Like, he needs to be bumped down a few lines, maybe have Wheeler centre the first line, then Little the second, and Scheifele the third line. Until he's super comfortable bring him back to the first line. Not trolling, just thinks he needs time to adjust, when he gets it all together he'll be dominant once again.

Jet's should have won that game !!! They were all over the Rangers in the 1-st period, and could have had 3 goals - no problem, but Lundquist was hot. Also had a goal disallowed that was just a hair off. Jet's doubled the shots on goal, compared to the Blue Shirts.

2-nd period the Rangers got the best of the game, and had a good period. I don't think Helle should have let that goal in between his pads. Soft one IMO.

3-rd period- The Jet's were all over the Rangers again, and as far as I'm concerned the Ranger's got a "lucky" goal. The defenseman shot it about 4 ft off to the left of the net, and it bounced off a Ranger and into our net. Sometimes a "lucky bounce" determines the winner, and this is what happened here.

Bottom line here- more times than not the Jet's would win this game. They ran into a hot goaltender, and didn't get any lucky breaks--like the Rangers did. I believe we outshot them by quite a margin.

I'm happy to lose with a great effort, as we should be able to beat that team on the next meeting. The Jet's looked quite dominant for the most part of the game. You can see without Lowry and Tanev and Trouba not in the lineup -- just how much it affects the Jet's play. Those are integral pieces to the Jet's lineup--especially Lowry.

I still think we'll do fine--our losses have all been very very close-- and we'll start putting some wins together. I'm convinced this team is a lot better than last year, and has a lot of character, and will steady the ship -- "no time to panic"-yet

@Zhamnov5GoalGame great GDT! Beyak shouldve been Uatu. Just my 2 cents from this HF pleb.

GoJetsGo

That's funny I did spend some time trying to find an image of him from the end of the Phoenix Saga but no luck. He was going to be the one introducing the line up... but Beyek would have been a good call.

Hurts to have been to two home losses in a row.
We are so spoiled this season.
Hopefully we can make some hay in the next 4 games.

Put Little and Wheeler back together.

Agree 100% atleast end ELL. So many combos to keep using that crap.

Ehlers- scheif- Wheeler
Perreault- Little- Laine

Or back to LSW and PLE. Anything but ELL together as a unit. I think if we drop another game Maurice has to atleast try Little and Wheeler. To not even try it at all is silly. Even just try it next time we are playing bad and the blender comes out

After a season of outperforming, the team, the captain and our goalie have relatively under-performed for three straight games.
Am I panicking? Of course not.
Am I worried? A little.
Not much margin for error in this division--we need our two all-stars to bounce back, and all-star caliber center to get back to early season form.
Huge amount of pressure on Hellebuyck, with no one reliable or healthy to back him up. Here's hoping he is up to it. :crossfing

That's the problem I'm sure if Helly had a game off he'd bounce back to form but Helly not playing his best is better than Comrie.
